Golden Globes Nominations 2025: See Every Nominee Here

As usual, the 2025 Golden Globe nominations are filled with both expected names and ones that came out of left field—typical for the Globes, a show that now seems to be stabilizing again after several uncommonly rocky years.

As revealed in December by announcers Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut, Jacques Audiard’s unconventional musical Emilia PĂ©rez leads this year’s nominations with 10 total. This is the most Globe nominations that any musical or comedy has ever received, a haul that gave the Netflix film a welcome burst of momentum after it was snubbed by precursor ceremonies like the New York Film Critics Circle Awards and the Gotham Awards. Brady Corbet’s architecture epic The Brutalist is next in line with seven total nominations, reestablishing the project as an awards favorite after it was surprisingly undernominated by the Independent Spirit Awards. Next on the list is Edward Berger’s papal drama Conclave, which got six nominations, and Anora and The Substance, topping out at five nominations each. Over on the TV side of things, The Bear leads with five nominations, while Shƍgun and Only Murders in the Building both got four total nods. The takeaways here show which films look like locks for eventual Oscar nominations—and which may unfortunately fall short.

Speaking of Anora and The Substance: Both of those films are, somewhat head-scratchingly, slotted in the comedy/musical category at the Globes—another indication of this ceremony’s idiosyncratic tendencies. VF’s full list of this year’s biggest snubs and surprises digs into 14 outcomes of the 2025 Golden Globe nominations we didn’t see coming, from the two strong contenders inexplicably left off the best-actress-in-a-drama list (and the two stars who shockingly took their place) to the exciting inclusion of two international female filmmakers in best director.

Exciting could be the watchword of the 2025 Golden Globes ceremony. It’s being hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, still flying high after her career-changing appearance at Netflix’s 2024 roast of Tom Brady, who tells VF that she’s very prepared for the task ahead: “I will not be able to say, ‘I could have worked harder.’ And as long as I’m able to say that, I’m fine with the outcome. If it goes poorly, there’s nothing I could have done differently because I considered every variable. I worked my fucking ass off on this.”

The awards will also get a jolt of legitimacy from this year’s honorary Globe recipients: Viola Davis, who receives the lifetime-achievement-esque Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Ted Danson, who receives the TV-actor equivalent, the Carol Burnett Award. But Davis and Danson will receive their prizes at an untelevised gala dinner two nights before the main Globes ceremony, so anyone hoping to hear their speeches will have to tune in to the Globes to see some clips from the event. Anybody looking to read how some of this year’s biggest stars reacted to getting nominated at the Globes can find what they’re looking for right here on VF: On nomination day, we spoke with double nominee Sebastian Stan; Cooper Koch, of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story; and Wicked witches Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

The 82nd Golden Globes air January 5 on CBS. Look below for a full list of 2025 Golden Globe nominations.
