Dana White in advanced talks with Turki Alalshikh to start Saudi Boxing League

Dana White’s arrival in the boxing world as a main promoter is seemingly imminent with the UFC boss in advance talks with Turki Alalshikh to start a new boxing league.

Since its inception 32 years ago, Dana White has been the main driving force behind the huge success of the UFC, growing the promotion exponentially each year.

2024 saw the promotion have its best year yet, breaking its own arena records and hosting several monumental events, including the milestone UFC 300.

With him having had experience in the boxing ring as a teen and into his early 20’s, it seemed only natural that once he had turned the UFC into one of the biggest sport’s promotions in the world, he would turn his attention to boxing.

That shift is seemingly imminent as the UFC boss is now in advanced talks with the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, Turki Alalshikh, according to The New York Times.

Alalshikh is widely regarded as the saviour of boxing considering some of the blockbuster fights he has hosted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, bringing the sport together once again and putting on some of the most highly desired fights.

This past September, White hosted his first event as a boxing promoter when he took an event to the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. White has managed boxing prospect, Callum Walsh for several years now, and is seemingly taking a closer step to his career.

For several years now, Turki Alalshikh has advocated for boxing to all be under one umbrella, like the UFC, instead of there being different governing bodies like the WBA, WBO etc.

Not only would this be easier for fans of the sport to follow but it would also make it easier for the promoters to create the big fights that fans desire as everything would be unified.

Dana White and Turki Alalshikh have already worked closely together on huge UFC eventsThe relationship between the UFC boss and Turki seems to be one that is budding into a fruitful one. The two have worked together several times in 2024 with UFC 306 this past September being sponsored by Riyadh Season.

The monumental event resulted in the highest-grossing UFC event of all time and it was the highest-grossing single event at the Sphere, with a gate of $22m.

The UFC also hosted their inaugural event in Saudi Arabia earlier this June and will return to Saudi this coming February for another event in the country.
