Packers WR Romeo Doubs leaves playoff game vs. Eagles with apparent head injury weeks after suffering concussion

Just weeks after returning to the field from a concussion, Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs left Sunday’s wild-card playoff game against the Eagles with an apparent head injury.

Doubs suffered the injury in the third quarter of Philadelphia’s 22-10 win.

Doubs hit the back of his head on the turf after an incomplete pass in the end zone from Jordan Love. He remained face down on the turf for several moments after the hit and required help from trainers to be turned over on his back.

As trainers tended to Doubs, several of his Packers teammates surrounded him on the field and took a knee.

After several minutes, Doubs was able to sit up with the aid of trainers. He eventually walked slowly off the field with the help of two trainers to the Packers’ locker room.

Shortly after his exit, the Packers announced Doubs was being evaluated for a concussion. Further details of his condition were not initially clear.

Doubs missed two games with a concussion late in the seasonDoubs previously suffered a concussion on Nov. 24 against the San Francisco 49ers. He missed Green Bay’s next two games before returning to the field on Dec. 15 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Doubs has worn a Guardian cap around his helmet for extra head protection since his return. He was wearing one on Sunday when he suffered his latest head injury.

Jayden Reed injury leaves Packers down 3 WRsOn the next Packers possession after the Doubs’ injury, fellow starting receiver Jayden Reed left the field with an injury to his right shoulder.

Reed needed help off the field and was holding his right arm in pain as he walked to the locker room late in the third quarter. The Packers listed him as questionable to return with an unspecified shoulder injury early in the fourth quarter.

The injuries left the Packers without three starting receivers late in a playoff game. They entered Sunday’s game without Christian Watson, who suffered a torn ACL in last week’s regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears.

The Packers also lost starting center Josh Myers to an apparent leg injury late in the fourth quarter. Myers left the field on a cart as the Eagles held a 22-10 lead.

Green Bay’s offense was already struggling at the time of Doubs’ injury as the Eagles held a 10-0 lead with 6:48 remaining in the third quarter.
