‘I could not disagree with that one more’ – Troy Aikman vehemently sounds off on officials

Troy Aikman isn’t known to be one who holds his tongue.

And he didn’t start today with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

On one specific instance, Aikman couldn’t believe it.

Mahomes scrambled out of the pocket, slowed down, waited for the defenders to get close, then slid down in front of the defenders, forcing them to hit one another, while barely grazing Mahomes.

The flag came out against the Texans.

“I mean, he’s a runner.

“I could not disagree with that one more. He barely gets hit.”

ESPN’s rules analyst Russell Yurk agreed with Aikman that there should not have been a flag.

“The two Houston players hit each other,” Yurk said.

“That should not have been a foul.”

The officials didn’t bite, and Aikman was relieved.

“He’s trying to draw the penalty,” Aikman said.

“Rather than just run out of bounds, he slows down.

“And that’s been the frustration and I get it. I understand it.

“That’s been the frustration for these defensive players around the league.”

It’s hard enough to beat Mahomes and the Chiefs as is, but factor in the luck they may or may not be getting when it comes to the officiating, and there’s virtual no chance for the opponent.

It will be a long offseason with a lot of the discourse focused on the officials, and if Aikman has it his way, he wants to see a lot of changes.
