Man United boss Amorim sets sights on Serie A star

Manchester United return to action on Sunday when they travel to face fellow strugglers Tottenham Hotspur.

Ruben Amorim has overseen just four wins from his 13 Premier League matches in charge of the Red Devils so far and his side sit 13th in the table, one place above Spurs.

Both sides look set to miss out on qualification for any form of European competition next term, and with that in mind both clubs are likely to want to bolster their respective squads when the transfer window reopens this summer.

Amorim is likely to want to bolster his attack, with his side having scored just 28 times in the league so far this season.

According to GiveMeSport, the Portuguese has identified striker Victor Osimhen as his prime target.

The Nigeria international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the past but joined Turkish side Galatasaray on loan last summer after failing to secure a move elsewhere.

Osimhen is Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s top target ahead of the summer transfer window

The 26-year-old has netted 17 goals in 23 games across all competitions for the Turkish giants, as well as registering five assists.

It is claimed that those in charge of United’s recruitment have identified the Nigerian forward as a prime candidate to bolster Amorim’s attacking options, and the Manchester club are therefore plotting a summer move for the player.

Osimhen joined Napoli from French side Lille in 2020 and has scored 76 goals in 133 games for the Italian side across all competitions.

He is set to return to Naples when his loan spell finishes at the end of the current season, and the report suggests that United are ready to step up their pursuit of the player in the hope of landing him this summer.

Osimhen’s current contract with Napoli includes a release clause that is set to drop to £63 million before the start of next term, and the report claims that United are plotting negotiations with the player’s representatives about a potential move.

The striker’s demands will, however, force the English club to revisit their current wage structure.
