Upon arriving in the village of Bylany, Henry gets wind of a dispute over what appears to be the remains of a dragon.

But Dragons? In this economy?

That’s exactly what you’re going to investigate in the Dragon’s Lair quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance II. Let’s look at the quest details and figure out the steps to complete it efficiently.

To start the Dragon’s Lair quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, head to the Bylany village in the Kuttenberg Region, where you’ll meet Monk Slava, the quest giver. This quest becomes available after completing Main Quest 14: Speak of the Devil.

As you dive deeper into the mystery of this mythical creature, you’ll end up with a crucial fork in the road: what to do with the supposed dragon bones?

Returning the bones to Monk Slava will complete the quest. However, if you turn the bones over to Gerhard, you’ll be rewarded with 275 Groschen.

i. Starting the Quest

To begin the Dragon’s Lair quest, speak with the local innkeeper in Bylany. The innkeeper will share rumors about a dragon’s lair near Bylany, urging you to investigate the mysterious bones.

Head to Monk Slava in town, who will task you with delivering a message to The Abbot in exchange for information about the dragon bones.

Deliver the message to The Abbot at the church near Kuttenburg, leading to a heated conversation between The Abbot and Gerhard.

Gerhard will then approach you and offer a deal: bring him the dragon bones, and he’ll reward you with a handsome sum. It’s good to agree to this offer, as you can weigh your options later once you finish the quest.

ii. Locating the Bones

Head back to Bylany and speak to Slava, who will direct you to the local Woodcutter, who seems to know the location of the dragon bones. But before you can speak to the Woodcutter, you’ll be interrupted by Leopold and his goons.

You can try to pass a few skill checks to have Leopold and his goons stand down. If you fail these checks (which seems to be the case for most players), you will have to engage in a fistfight to take out Leopold’s goons, and then you can continue your search for the Woodcutter.

You’ll find the Woodcutter in the tavern and he’ll tell you about the location of the dragon bones. But no good intel comes without a price – you’ll need to pass a skill check or pay him 200 Groschen for this information.

iii. Finding the Bones

Follow the Woodcutter’s directions to find the dragon bones. You can follow the intended route or head straight to the location marked on the map.

You’ll have to dig up the dragon bones when you arrive, which will trigger a cutscene with Leopold and Gerhard’s people.

A conversation between the two leaders will ensue, but ultimately, a brief brawl will break out. You can choose to share the bones or engage in the fight.

iv. Finishing the Quest

After the confrontation, you’ll have a decision to make. You can return the bones to Slava in Bylany, earning a positive reputation but no cash reward.

Or you can meet with Gerhard outside Kuttenburg and hand him the bones to receive a reward of 275 Groschen.

Whether you opted to return the bones to Slava or claim your reward from Gerhard, the Dragon’s Lair quest is now complete. See you in the next adventure- until then, may fortune be on your side!
