After missing a ten-foot putt on the third hole, golf insider Dan Rapaport reported that a fan shouted, “Blame your caddie!” at McIlroy, who responded: “Shut the f*** up.”
Swift and harmless, albeit still notable because it came from McIlroy.
The Northern Irishman’s putting failed him over the weekend, resulting in a frustrating and disappointing 17th-place finish.

That interaction left the haters and trolls on the internet to do what they do best, and that’s hide behind their keyboards and take shots at someone they would never dream of doing to their face.
That took place during the TGL’s main event, Boston Common Golf vs. The Bay Golf Club on Monday evening at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Boston Common Golf consisted of McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama, and Keegan Bradley.
The Bay Golf Club consisted of Ludvig Aberg, fresh off his victory at the Genesis Invitational, along with Shane Lowry and Wyndham Clark.
It was Aberg’s squad who found themselves victorious, as Clark clinched the win on the 15th hole.

‘Don’t chirp him, you will hurt his feelings,’ one fan posted on X.
‘He’s washed! Horrible showing at the Genesis!’ another fan chimed in.
McIlroy doesn’t have time for what people say online, as he has stayed busy trying to get eyeballs on the newly formed golf league.
A league that is essentially the brainchild of McIlroy and Tiger Woods.
The TGL has given fans access and insight that has never been done before.
Rory McIlroy left broadcaster on the verge of tears in emotional interview
For example, a cool moment was picked up when Aberg hit the longest drive in TGL history.
“Ludvig is different,” McIlroy said.
“He’s feeling himself right now.”
He sure is.
The Swedish golfer has been on an unbelievable heater over the last couple of days, capping it off with a win on Monday night.
