UFC 314 adds Michael Chandler vs. Paddy Pimblett – and it’s five rounds

“See you at the top,” is what Paddy Pimblett concluded one of his recent video blogs with, and it turns out that was an Easter egg after all.

In the UFC 314 co-main event, Pimblett (22-3 MMA, 6-0 UFC) will face Michael Chandler in a five-round bout, Dana White announced Wednesday. The event takes place April 12 at Kaseya Center in Miami.

Pimblett, 30, will take his biggest step up in competition to date as he battles a former Bellator lightweight champion and top-ranked UFC contender in Chandler (23-9 MMA, 2-4 UFC). He’s yet to lose in the UFC, with victories over King Green and Tony Ferguson, among others.

Chandler, 38, aims to snap a two-fight skid. Following a loss to Dustin Poirier in November 2022, Chandler waited for a bout vs. Conor McGregor that was eventually scheduled for June. However, McGregor withdrew, and Chandler instead faced Charles Oliveira in November. He lost by unanimous decision.

With the addition, the UFC 314 lineup includes:

Alexander Volkanovski vs. Diego Lopes – for vacant featherweight title
Michael Chandler vs. Paddy Pimblett
Patricio Freire vs. Yair Rodriguez
Geoff Neal vs. Carlos Prates
Nikita Krylov vs. Dominick Reyes
Dan Ige vs. Sean Woodson
Virna Jandiroba vs. Yan Xiaonan
Chase Hooper vs. Jim Miller
Alberto Montes vs. Roberto Romero
Su Mudaerji vs. Mitch Raposo
Darren Elkins vs. Julian Erosa
Sedriques Dumas vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk
