Trump Replaces White House Desk After Elon Musk’s Son Picked Nose
Donald Trump Unveils Temporary Desk After Elon Musk’s Son Picks Nose During Visit
Donald Trump is sitting behind a new desk.
More than one week after Elon Musk and Grimes’ son X Æ A-Xii Musk, 4, went viral for picking his nose by the Resolute Desk during a visit to the White House Oval Office, the President shared he has opted to use a different desk for the time being.
“A President, after election, gets a choice of 1 in 7 desks,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account Feb. 19. “This desk, the ‘C&O,’ which is also very well-known and was used by President George H.W. Bush and others, has been temporarily installed in the White House while the Resolute Desk is being lightly refinished—a very important job. This is a beautiful, but temporary replacement.”
Trump, who didn’t elaborate on the reason for the switch, added that he would be “a beautiful, but temporary replacement.”
The president had used the Resolute Desk during all four years of his previous presidency, which ended in 2021, and has also used it several times since he was inaugurated Jan. 20 for his second term, including to sign executive orders.
On Feb. 12, Trump had hosted Musk, one of his senior advisers, at the Oval Office for a videotaped press conference about the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), during which the eldest of the Tesla CEO and Grimes’ three kids at one point, stood behind the Resolute Desk between his dad and the president and picked his nose.
Trump, who has previously described himself as a “germophobe” didn’t share his reaction to the encounter, he did praise the toddler during the White House outing.
“This is X, and he’s a great guy—high IQ,” he told reporters at the beginning of the event, “high-IQ individual.”

Musk’s outing with his 4-year-old came just days before conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair said she had welcomed a baby with him, who would be his 13th child.
While he hasn’t responded publicly to the news, her spokesperson said in a statement posted to social media, “We are waiting for Elon to publicly acknowledge his parental role with Ashley, to end unwarranted speculation, and Ashley trusts that Elon intends to finish their agreement quickly, in the best interests of the wellbeing and security of the child they share.”
