Fast & Furious 11: Everything We Know So Far

Got any Coronas in the fridge? Good. Itā€™s time to sit back, relax and crack one open as we pray to the car gods ā€“ itā€™s time to talk Fast & Furious.

The next and potentially final chapter of the long-running cult action action movie franchise is in the works, and details of what to expect are emerging.

So far, the series has taken us everywhere from the favelas of Brazil to the polar ice caps, a brief trip into space and even to LA’s Neptuneā€™s Net seafood restaurant. Itā€™s a wonder to see how far the writers will go with the eleventh entry.

Weā€™re still a while from knowing for sure though, so until then, hereā€™s everything we can tell you so far about Fast & Furious 11.

Spoiler alert: In case youā€™re yet to watch Fast X, or somehow any film in the series before it, prepare for a few plot points to be discussed. Complaints? ā€œForget about it, cuh.ā€

When is Fast & Furious 11 out?As weā€™re writing this, Fast & Furious 11 doesnā€™t have a confirmed release date. Filming reportedly began late in 2024 ā€“ and weā€™ve certainly seen plenty of evidence of that.

Late last year, Vin Diesel claimed on social media that Universal wanted the film ā€˜by March 2026ā€™. Certainly, weā€™d expect to be arriving early next year.Ā

Will it be called Fast & Furious 11?Weā€™re yet to have a confirmed title for the eleventh film in the Fast franchise. Fast & Furious 11 would seem a logical title, but then when has the series ever been logical?

The nomenclature stopped early with Tokyo Drift, and since then, the series has ebbed and flowed between using numbered titles.Ā
Ā

A widely touted potential title is ā€˜Fast X: Part 2ā€™ and thereā€™s evidence to suggest thatā€™ll be the case. Vin Diesel referred to that in numerous Instagram posts over the last 12 months, but nothing has been confirmed.

It would line up with talks that Fast X would be spun into a three-part trilogy of its own, but time will tell. Weā€™ve also seen Vin Diesel refer to ā€œFast Finaleā€ too, so that could be an option.Ā

What will the plot be?Fast X left us on a genuine cliffhanger. Just to kick-start your memory, or in case you havenā€™t seen the film and have zero interest in watching it, we see a plane carrying Roman, Tej, Han, and Ramsey shot down by Aimes ā€“ who turns out to have been working with antagonist Dante Reyes and duping Dom Torettoā€™s crew in the process.Ā

It cuts to the end credits shortly after leaving us to wonder about the fate of the crew but, if things go in a typical F&F fashion, weā€™ll expect them to all miraculously survive.

Beyond that, further plot points are a mystery at this stage. Vin Diesel has expressed a desire to “get back to real street racing, practical stuntsā€¦ and a reunion of that beautiful brotherhoodā€ implying the series could return to its roots. How it does that after sending a Pontiac Fiero to space though is beyond our minds.

Which cars will be in Fast & Furious 11?Weā€™re starting to see a few cars thatā€™ll appear in the next Fast instalment, and it looks as though several vehicles from previous entries will make a return.

One of those is seemingly the iconic Toyota Supra from the very first film. In an Instagram post in May 2024, Vin Diesel filmed himself with Brian Oā€™Connerā€™s legendary car. Though he didn’t outright state the car would make an appearance, the video was seemingly shot on the Fast 11 set.
Ā

Similar posts have revealed a Chevy Chevelle used in multiple instalments, a Plymouth GTX from Dom Torettoā€™s brief evil spell, a truckload of black Honda Civics as seen in the original filmā€™s truck hijacking sceneā€¦ you get the idea. Lots of returnees.

Thereā€™ll be debutants in the series, though. We’re also expecting to see an original NA1 Honda NSX appear in the film, with Vin Diesel recently posting an on-set image of himself with Letty actress Michelle Rodriguez behind the wheel of the Japanese sports car. We think it’s the first time a pre-facelift model of the NSX has appeared in the series, with an NA2 Acura NSX hitting the screen in Fast Five.

Is anyone returning to Fast & Furious 11?Fast & Furious is the franchise of unlikely comebacks. Just take a look at Sun Kangā€™s Han for example, who returned for Fast 9 despite us seeing him die on screen. Twice.

Gal Gadot made a return as Gisele in Fast X, even though we witnessed her fall off the back of a plane and into the darkness to save Hanā€™s life in Fast & Furious 6.

Expect at least one insane surprise in Fast & Furious 11, then. We know for sure Dwayne ā€˜The Rockā€™ Johnson will be back as Luke Hobbs thanks to an end-credits scene between himself and Diesel in X, though anyone else remains a mystery at this point.

John Cena has stated he’d like to return for the eleventh film, despite his character Jakob Toretto meeting a fiery (supposed) end in Fast X.

Previously speaking with Club Shay Shay, Cena said: “I would be in The Fast and the Furious as long as they would have me because itā€™s an action movie about cars. But, uh, I did have a pretty big fiery wreck in the last one. I know that they have a reputation for resurrecting characters. I hope I made it. They didnā€™t have a funeral for me, so Iā€™m okay. Iā€™m okay. But I hope I made it. I hope I can do the next one.” Given that 2025 will see the end of his WWE career, we suspect he’ll have time for some filming.

Will this be the last Fast & Furious film?Fast & Furious 11 was originally set to be the final entry to the franchise. However, it sounds as though Universal has found a way to milk the cash cow further and have it as the bridge within a trilogy.

Speaking in June 2023 with Variety, Vin Diesel said: ā€œGoing into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter, and after the studio saw this one, they said, ā€˜Could you make Fast X the finale, a trilogy?ā€

Either way, there’s going to be an ending soon. In February 2024, Diesel stated in an Instagram post: “Just finished our end of the week Fast meeting with the writers and the whole teamā€¦ to say the excitement for our finale was incredibly powerful is an understatement. Wow. So exciting.Ā

“This grand finale is not just an ending; itā€™s a celebration of the incredible family weā€™ve built together.”

No matter if Fast & Furious 11 signals the end of the main franchise or not, we can expect the name to carry on. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Reyes has been confirmed to be in the works, focusing on Dwayne ā€˜The Rockā€™ Johnson and Jason Momoa, while an untitled female-led spin-off is rumoured to be on the cards.
