How the Bills can trade for Myles Garrett: Projecting Buffalo’s best offers for Browns star
The Buffalo Bills are one of several high-profile suitors rumored to be interested in trading for Myles Garrett, Sporting News’ reigning two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year. But what would they need to give up in return to acquire Garrett from the Cleveland Browns?
Here’s breaking down a potential offer, based on the Bills’ best assets for the 2025 offseason.

Like Khalil Mack going from the Raiders to the Bears just ahead of the 2018 season, the Bills can expect to give up at least two first-round picks.
The Bears gave up No. 24 overall in 2019 and No. 19 overall in 2020 as part of that package. The Bills can only give the Browns No. 30 overall in 2025 in addition to likely a bottom-10 first-rounder in 2026.
Buffalo would still need to add more, including as much as a second-round pick (No. 56 or No. 64 overall this year) in order to get back a third-rounder with Garrett from the Browns. The best-case scenario seems to be the Bills adding a fourth-rounder to the mix and also getting a fifth-rounder back.
The Bills are thin at defensive end, and given their salary cap situation, Von Miller is a potential cap casualty given he will turn 36 in March and has had diminishing overall returns. Once Miller is moved off the roster, Buffalo’s depth chart will consist of starters Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa, along with 2024 fifth-rounder Javon Solomon.
Buffalo was middle of the pack in sacks (39) with its committee approach last year. Garrett is coming off a 14-sack season in Cleveland. There’s no doubt he would be a game-changer, but it would cost the Bills plenty before even trying to give him a new top-market edge rusher contract starting with his age-29 season.

Should the Bills trade for Myles Garrett?Garrett is a worthy asset and can thrive with the Bills under Sean McDermott, but there’s another ideal veteran pass rusher who can be an upgrade from Miller about to become a free agent: Khalil Mack.
Instead of making a Mack-like trade for Garrett, the Bills can sign Mack, who rose into a potential NFL superstar while at the University of Buffalo. Mack just turned 34 but was still playing at a high all-around level for the Chargers in 2024. There’s no doubt Mack’s advanced age and the lack of draft pick compensation required makes him a much cheaper and maybe smarter path for the Bills to improve their pass rush.
