Zach Ertz reportedly re-signs with Commanders

Zach Ertz is re-signing with the Washington Commanders on a one-year, $6.25 million contract worth up to $9 million with incentives, according to a report from NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

The former Philadelphia Eagles tight end was set to be a free agent after originally joining the Commanders on a one-year contract last year.

Ertz, who turns 35 this season, had a nice bounce-back season for the Commanders in 2024. Among all players at his position, Ertz ranked tied for fourth in touchdowns scored (7), sixth in receptions (66), and 11th in receiving yards. He proved to be a nice security blanket for rookie sensation Jayden Daniels.

Ertz was Washington’s leading receiver in the Eagles’ blowout win over the Commanders in the NFC Championship Game (55 to 23). He gave Philly’s defense some fits as he saw 16 targets for 11 receptions and 104 yards in that matchup at Lincoln Financial Field.

It would’ve been nice to see Ertz leave the Commanders and sign with another team that doesn’t play the Eagles at least twice per season. But that won’t be the case.
