Unstoppable Victor Osimhen steals late win for Galatasaray at Alanyaspor

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored the winning goal for Galatasaray in their hard-fought 2-1 win over Alanyaspor at the GAIN Park Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen has been in hot form since joining Galatasaray during the last summer transfer window, and he continued with his exploits on Sunday.

With Fenerbahce breathing down their necks, Galatasaray desperately needed to get a win when they traveled to GAIN Park for their Super Lig game against Alanyaspor.

Coach Orkan Buruk maintained his trust in Osimhen, using the 25-year-old hitman as the focal point of his attack.

Beating Alanyaspor was never going to be an easy task for the Turkish champions. The home side jumped into the lead in the 23rd minute, courtesy of a striker from Tonny Vilhena.

Galatasaray dominated the first half, but they just failed to create clear-cut opportunities. However. They picked up the pace in the second half.

The Turkish champions equalised in the 51st minute, courtesy of an own goal from Alanyaspor defender Fidan Aliti.

Then, 11 minutes later, Osimhen rose to the occasion, as always. The former Lille man jumped highest to connect with a cross and sent a powerful header into the net to make it 2-1.

Osimhen had another chance in the 69th minute, but his strike from inside the area was saved by the Alanyaspor goalkeeper Mahmut Ertugrul Taskiran.

The Nigerian striker had another opportunity in the 86th minute after a brilliant mazy run. But his finish just went whiskers wide. Osimhen was taken out of the game in the 90th minute for Ahmed Kutucu. Eventually, his goal proved to be the difference for the Lions as they ran out 2-1 winners.

The win over Alanyaspor takes Galatasaray seven points clear of near rivals Fenerbahce, who have a game in hand. With ten games left to play in the Super Lig this season, Victor Osimhen and his Galatasaray can sense that the league title is close.

The Lions were knocked out of the Europa Legaue two weeks ago, so they can focus on the Super Lig in this home stretch. Aside from the games against Trabzonspor and Besiktas, Galatasaray have a relatively decent fixture schedule.

They will look to keep up with the intensity and their fine form until the end of the season and win their third straight Super Lig title.
