Browns add former first-round edge rusher to complement Myles Garrett

The Cleveland Browns have officially signed former first-round pick Joe Tryon-Shoyinka to a one-year, $4.75 million deal, strengthening their defensive line ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Tryon-Shoyinka, who was drafted 32nd overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, brings with him 15 sacks and 138 tackles over four seasons.

The Browns are looking to take their defense to the next level, and adding Tryon-Shoyinka to the mix with Myles Garrett could be the key to creating a truly dominant pass rush. Known for his ability to generate pressure, Tryon-Shoyinka will now fit into Cleveland’s 4-3 defensive scheme under defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, a system that plays to his strengths as a pass rusher.

In his time with the Buccaneers, Tryon-Shoyinka recorded 24 tackles and 2 sacks during the 2024 season, showing that he’s ready to make an impact when given the opportunity. Now, playing opposite Garrett, who is one of the most disruptive defensive players in the league, Tryon-Shoyinka has the potential to thrive and provide even more pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

With Garrett and Tryon-Shoyinka on the edges, the Browns’ defense will be one to watch in the upcoming season.
