Auburn vs. Michigan State live score, updates, highlights from March Madness Elite Eight game
While it just started, the 2025 NCAA Tournament is winding down. There is only one more set of Elite Eight games scheduled for Sunday, March 30 standing between us and the Final Four. The latter matchup on Sunday will feature Auburn taking on Michigan State.Â
Auburn dominated throughout the college basketball season. The Tigers finished 30-5 and went 15-3 in conference play. Auburn was upset by Tennessee in the SEC Conference Tournament, but still earned the No. 1 seed in NCAA Tournament bracket.
The Tigers have one of the deepest rosters in the tournament field, returning many of their stars from last season when they won the SEC. Auburn beat Alabama State by 20 in the first round, and then beat Creighton by 12 in the second. The Tigers started slowly against Michigan in the Sweet 16, only leading by a point at halftime. Auburn made the right halftime adjustments, though, and ended up winning 78-65.Â
The Tigers will turn to player of the year candidate Johni Broome. He finished with a team-high 22 points and 16 rebounds in the Sweet 16 win. Auburn had a three-headed monster when beating Michigan. Alongside Broome was Denver Jones who had 20 and Tahaad Pettiford who came of the bench, but also had 20.Â

Michigan State went 30-6 overall in the regular season. The Spartans finished 17-3 in the Big Ten, earning the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament. Michigan State was upset by Wisconsin, but that didn’t derail its momentum for the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans opened March Madness with an 87-62 win over Bryant. Michigan State then beat New Mexico 71-63 in the second round and narrowly avoided an upset by Ole Miss in the Sweet Sixteen, escaping with the 73-70 win.Â
Jase Richardson helped led the Spartans to the win over the Rebels. He finished with 20 points and six rebounds in 32 minutes. Michigan State used a shallow bench, only bringing in three players off the bench in the win.

Auburn vs. Michigan State highlights from 2025 March Madness Elite Eight(All times Eastern)
6:52 p.m.- Without their top scorer available, Auburn looks like they are focusing on lockdown defense. There is a slight chance that Broome can return, per the broadcast, but it isn’t likely. Auburn was up 10 when he got hurt, and are still up 10 with 6:57 left to play.Â
6:45 p.m. — There could be a huge shift in the game. Broome landed badly (forewarning the replay is gross), looking like he hurt both his leg and maybe elbow. He was helped off the court, appeared to mouth “I’m done” and went to the locker room. Auburn is up 50-40 with 9:19 left, but the Tigers are presumably going to be without their best player for the remainder of the game.Â

â CBS Sports (@CBSSports) March 30, 20256:40 p.m. — Auburn’s Chad Baker-Mazara is dealing with a thumb injury, and is questionable to return. Broome is dealing with a shoulder injury, but is already back in the game.Â

â ESPN BET (@ESPNBET) March 30, 20256:29 p.m. — Auburn is dominating close to the rim. The Tigers defense is getting the ball out in transition, and the big men are finishing down low. Auburn is up 45-35 with 14:48 left.

â NCAA March Madness (@MarchMadnessMBB) March 30, 20256:20 p.m. — Michigan State starts the second half with two quick buckets, but Auburn is keeping pace. Denver Jones and Miles Kelly picked up their third fouls for Auburn and were instantly taken out. The Spartans are gaining some ground and are down 38-30 with 16:58 left in the game.Â
End of the 1st half — Auburn 33, Michigan State 245:52 p.m. — The first half ends with the Tigers on top. Broome leads all scorers in the game with 15 points, and he already has a double-double, adding 11 rebounds. Denver Jones and Miles Kelly have two fouls apiece, but other than that, no player has more than one foul heading into the half.Â

â NCAA March Madness (@MarchMadnessMBB) March 30, 20255:48 p.m. — It seemed like we were going to be in for a high-scoring affair based on how these teams started the game. 5:41 p.m. — The teams have played a relatively clean first half. The only player with more than one foul so far is Auburn’s Miles Kelly who has two with 4:21 left in the first half.Â
5:33 p.m. — Sometimes coaches call timeouts at the perfect time. After Auburn went on its 13-0 run, Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo called a timeout. The Spartans came out of the timeout on a 7-0 run. The Michigan State defense started stifling the Auburn offense, but the Spartans’ offense was still not taking full advantage of the Tigers’ scoring drought. Auburn 23, Michigan Stat 15 with 6:39 left in the first half.Â

â NCAA March Madness (@MarchMadnessMBB) March 30, 20255:21 p.m. — Michigan State had back-to-back possessions where it showed great rebounding skills, but freezing cold offense. The Spartans started both possessions with a defensive rebound, then proceeded to miss a combined seven shots between the two possessions. The good news is that Michigan State dominated the boards, but they went 0-7 from the floor. Auburn is pulling away, up 23-8 with 10:27 left.Â
