Int’l. Islamic Youth League, African Youth Devt. Centre supports Muslim community during salah celebrations
The International Islamic Youth League and the African Youth Development Center have extended a hand of support to the Muslim community in Aflao, Ketu South Municipality, during the recent salah celebrations.
The donation, aimed at alleviating hardship among orphans, widows, and other vulnerable members of the community, was warmly received by local leaders and beneficiaries.
Ambassador Prof. Dr. Hamid Shamed Kanneh (PhD), a key figure in the initiative, emphasised the significance of giving in Islam, particularly to those in need.
Speaking during the event, he highlighted the spiritual and communal benefits of supporting orphans and widows.
“Giving is a fundamental pillar in Islam. It strengthens community bonds, fosters love and unity, and ensures that no one is left behind, especially the most vulnerable among us—orphans and widows. When we give, we reflect the mercy of Allah and uphold the values of Islam, which teach us to care for one another,” Dr. Kanneh stated.
The donation, which included essential food items, clothing, and other relief materials, was carefully distributed among the beneficiaries under the guidance of community leaders.
Ali Anebi, the leader of the Muslim community in Aflao, expressed gratitude for the gesture, noting that it had brought immense relief to many families struggling with economic hardships.
“This act of kindness has come at the right time. Many of our members, particularly orphans and widows, were worried about how to celebrate Salah due to financial difficulties. The items will be shared fairly among those in need, ensuring that every family receives something to support them during this period of joy and reflection,” Mr Anebi explained.
The event was met with overwhelming appreciation from community members, many of whom described the support as a testament to the importance of solidarity and compassion.
Widows and orphans who benefited expressed their gratitude, with some shedding tears of joy as they received the much-needed items.
As the celebration of salah concluded, the initiative by the International Islamic Youth League and the African Youth Development Center stood out as a beacon of hope, reminding the community of the power of giving and the impact of collective efforts in uplifting the less privileged.
This act of charity not only fulfilled an immediate need but also reinforced the values of generosity and kindness that Islam upholds, leaving a lasting impact on the Aflao Muslim community.
