Watch Tony Finau pop ankle back into place after gruesome Masters Par 3 Contest injury

Tony Finau finished 10th on his Masters debut despite dislocating his ankle the day before the tournament.

The American appeared at Augusta National for the first time back in 2018.

And his dislocated his ankle the day before the tournament got underwayCredit: GettyAhead of the event, he competed in the traditional Par 3 Contest on the eve of the first round.

During the contest, Finau made a stunning hole-in-one on the seventh before leaping in the air to celebrate.

However, he slipped during his wild celebrations, suffering a gruesome ankle injury.

Finau immediately popped his dislocated ankle back into place before going for an X-ray.

READ MORE ON THE MASTERSOnce the tests revealed he had not suffered any breaks, instead only a high ankle sprain, he was clear to play in the tournament.

Following the injury, he wrote on X: “Crazy dat. Thanks for thoughts of concern, messages and prayers from all. I’m optimistic.”

Finau went on to finish his week at seven-under-par to place tied for 10th with Dustin Johnson.

The pair were eight shots off the winner Patrick Reed, who edged out Rickie Fowler by a single shot.

Once the tournament was over, Finau posted a series of snaps of his injury to social media.

In pictures shared to Instagram, his ankle could be seen covered in bruising and swollen as a result of his painful slip.

The 35-year-old finished just two shots behind winner Tiger Woods in a tie for fifth.

Meanwhile, Finau was once again tied for 10th in 2021 and has never missed the cut at Augusta National.

Despite six wins on the PGA Tour, the world number 34 has yet to win the Masters, US Open, PGA Championship or Open Championship.

Finau will be hoping for better this week.

He will get his tournament underway at 3:37pm UK time and has been grouped alongside Thomas Detry and Maverick McNealy.
