TV streaming service HBO has confirmed it’s renewed its adaptation of The Last of Us for a third season, as the second is about to debut this Sunday, 13th April 2025. The announcement was shared on Twitter with a little animation:
Season two of The Last of Us, which looks to adapt at least some of The Last of Us 2, airs this Sunday on HBO and Sky in the UK. New episodes will debut on a weekly basis, with seven episodes in total making up the second season. This means the conclusion will come on 25th May.
In the PS5, PS4 game, there’s a very clear break where two seasons of a TV show could be split apart, but we already know HBO has made some changes to how the TV series tells the story of The Last of Us 2. Until we see the new batch of episodes for ourselves, we won’t know how HBO has structured the story in relation to telling Ellie and Abby’s points of view.
Reviews from select media outlets were published earlier this week, which you can view through the link:

Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he’s found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
