SB Nation Reacts: Over/under 11.5 wins for the Birds this year

The Philadelphia Eagles are the defending Super Bowl Champions. Heavy is the head that wears the crown, as they say, and every other team in the league is going to give the Birds their best shot this season so they can say they beat the champs. Based on 2024 records, the Eagles are going to have to bring their A-game every week because their schedule is tough.

Here are the top-five toughest schedules based on 2024 records:

1- New York Giants, .574
T2- Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, .571
4- EAGLES, .561
T5- Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, .557

Based on the win totals from FanDuel Sportsbook, the Eagles are tied with the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Baltimore Ravens at 11.5 wins. All four of those teams went over 11.5 last year, but can they do it again?

Before revealing how you, the fans, voted let me give you a little more data on the Birds’ recent history. Here are the Eagles’ regular season records the past five seasons:

2024: 14-3 (NFC East Champs, NFC Champs, Super Bowl Champs)
2023: 11-6 (Wild Card)
2022: 14-3 (NFC East Champs, NFC Champs)
2021: 9-8 (Wild Card)
2020: 4-11-1 (::puking face emoji::)

And here is how the last five Super Bowl champions fared in their attempt at repeating:

2024: Chiefs, 15-2, lost Super Bowl (to the Eagles in case you forgot)
2023: Chiefs, 11-6, won Super Bowl
2022: Rams, 5-12, missed playoffs
2021: Buccaneers, 13-4, lost in divisional round
2020: Chiefs, 14-2, lost Super Bowl

Outside of the Rams, whose .294 winning percentage in 2022 was the worst by any NFL/AFL defending champion ever, teams seem to ride the momentum of winning the title to another postseason run, which usually means double-digit wins.

So, with all that being said … did you think the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles will finish over or under 11.5 wins this season?

That is a pretty resounding win for “over 11.5” as 83% of Eagles fans think they’ll win, at minimum, a dozen games this upcoming season. The off-season is a time of boundless optimism apparently, because the other three NFC East fan bases ALSO think their teams will go over their preseason win totals.

89% of Commanders fans think they’ll win over 9.5 games
70% of Cowboys fans think they’ll win over 7.5 games
70% of Giants fans think they’ll win over 5.5 games

Looks like the NFC East is going to be a real meat-grinder this year since every team will be smashing their win projections. I’m sure no one (looking at you, Giants fans) will be incredibly disappointed come the end of the year!
