Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis vs. Eimantas Stanionis live fight updates, results, highlights from 2025 boxing card

Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Eimantas Stanionis vie for welterweight supremacy in Atlantic City on Saturday night.

Stepping out at the cherished Boardwalk Hall, Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) and Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs) put their unbeaten records on the line.

Philadelphia native Ennis will enter the ring as the IBF champion, with Lithuania’s 2016 Olympian Stanionis holding the WBA title.

“This means a lot and I look forward to taking all these belts to Lithuania on Sunday. I’m winning Saturday night by going all gas, no brakes,” Stanionis said, promising an all-action performance.

Ennis retorted: “I’m not going to look for a knockout, but it’s coming. We’re going to have fun. We’re going to show out. He said all gas, no breaks. He’s going to run right into a rock.”

On the undercard, former WBA featherweight champion Raymond Ford fights for the second time at the super-featherweight limit against fellow American Thomas Mattice.

Shakhram Giyasov beat Stanionis on his way to silver at Rio 2016 and is looking to go 17-0 as a pro against Franco Ocampo, while the hotly tipped Omari Jones steps out for the second time in the paid ranks.

The Sporting News is following the Ennis vs. Stanionis card live, with round-by-round updates on the main event.

Jaron Ennis vs. Eimantas Stanionis live updates, highlights, and commentaryRound 2: Ennis’ corner are keen for him to bring the uppercut into play against this marauding foe. There’s a nice left downstairs from the American, who is southpaw again and already into a lovely rhythm… oh, but he leaves himself open at the end of a combination to a winging Stanionis left. Boots the busier man so far, showing more variety and landing with greater frequency.

SN unofficial scorecard: Ennis 20-18 Stanionis

— Matchroom Boxing (@MatchroomBoxing) April 13, 2025Round 1: Stanionis straight out, gloves high and moving forward. Ennis in an orthodox stance, popping out the jab on the back foot. These are the terms of engagement we expected. Boots lands a right uppercut and Stanionis grins, responding with a nice counter-left shortly afterwards. But the Lithuanian isn’t seeing the opportunity to get off with his own jab as he usually would. Ennis switches to southpaw and is still first to the punch over the closing seconds.

SN unofficial scorecard: Ennis 10-9 Stanionis

10:35 p.m. ET: Anthems time. Stanionus takes in the Lithuanian national anthem in his dressing room. The 30-year-old looks ready to rock’n’roll as you’d expect. This has all the makings of a classic, with the supreme stylist Ennis facing up to a relentless pressure fighter in Stanionis. However, this equation does not fall quite how you’d expect. Stanionis’ best weapon might be the varied and precise left jab he uses to set up his swarming attacks, while Ennis likes to score to the body. If he can bang to the midsection and slow his man down, he’ll be on his way to becoming the unified welterweight champion.

Stanionis is starting his ringwalk. We’re going to go round-by-round from this point.

— DAZN Boxing (@DAZNBoxing) April 13, 2025Raymond Ford beats Thomas Mattice via unanimous decision10:05 p.m. ET: Ford closed out a comprehensive win on top, as he had been all the way through. The judges all saw it that way, with three 100-90 shutout scorecards returned in Ford’s favour, According to Compubox, Mattice landed a paltry 24 punches across the 10 rounds. Complete domniation.

9:55 p.m. ET: Mattice was slow to rise from his stool for the start of round eight, where one-way traffic continued. Ford is peeling off spiteful combinations and looks fresh. This is an impressive performance and Mattice’s corner are frustrated by the lack of anything meaningful coming back from their man. It’s an understandable gripe but he’s under sustained fire.

9:40 p.m. ET: Four rounds down here and Ford is in a handy lead. Mattice unable to find much of an answer to his opponent’s sharpness, volume and accuracy. There’s not a great deal coming back in return and, if Ford can keep up this pace, it will leave Mattice with a thankless task down the stretch. ‘Savage’ is not noted as a big puncher and a stoppage here would he a notable accomplishment.

9:27 p.m. ET: Forty seconds into the contest and Ford sends Mattice reeling back into the ropes with a big right book to the jaw. Straight down to business, and Mattice looks a bit like a deer in the headlights. He’s wobbled in centre-ring by a right to the jaw. Ford looking ferociously sharp throughout the opening round.

9:17 p.m. ET: Time for the ringwalks in our co-main event. Former WBA featherweight champion Raymond Ford is looking to make an impact in the super featherweight division and faces a solid test against rangy southpaw Thomas Mattice. The build-up to this one has been, well, very funny. The relaxed Ford has seemed to find all of Mattice’s good-natured trash talk faintly hilarious. Rapper Po1300 is bringing Ford to the ring now and he looks ready to have some fun.

Omari Jones takes out William Jackson with round-one KO8:56 p.m. ET: Two fights down on the main card, two monster bodyshot KOs. Jackson lunched in behind a long right hand and Jones nailed his man with a brutal uppercut to the body. That’s all she wrote. Job done for Jones, who you sense might have to be moved quickly in the pro ranks.

— DAZN Boxing (@DAZNBoxing) April 13, 20258:49 p.m. ET: Continuing the theme of Olympic podium pedigree, Omari Jones is ringwalking for his second professional bout, having won bronze at welterweight for the United States in Paris last year. The 22-year-old faces William ‘Action’ Jackson, who has a solid winning record of 13-5-2. The fairly significant caveat is that his most recent win came 10-and-a-half years ago.

Shakhram Giyasov beats Franco Ocampo via fourth-round KO8:31 p.m. ET: Giyasov has been unable to miss for most of this contest but there’s a sense that he might be letting the action drift. The stoppages have dried up for the ‘Wonder Boy’ of late. But don’t worry about that, a right hand to the liver has folded Ocampo like a deckchair and this fight is over! A precision bodyshot stoppage for Giyasov, who moves to 17-0 with a first KO since 2021. Ocampo had never previously been stopped and came into this one over weight. He simply could not cope with Giyasov’s enviable skill set.

— DAZN Boxing (@DAZNBoxing) April 13, 2025It’s an emotional victory for the 31-year-old. His daughter was born two years ago with a rare brain condition. During his camp for this fight, she tragically died. Giyasov has pledged to become a world champion in her honour and he’s a step closer to that goal as the tears understandably flow during his post-fight interview.

8:20 p.m. ET: We’re underway in our first fight of the main card. Shakhram Giyasov is in action against Franco Ocampo. The Uzbek fighter is next in line for a shot at the WBA welterweight belt that Stanionis holds, having beaten his Lithuanian rival at the 2016 Olympics en route to a silver medal. Woah, huge left hook from Giyasov, follow-up onslaught and down goes Ocampo! The Argentine is fortunate there was only 10 seconds left in the round after the referee cleared him to continue. He was badly hurt.
