Capitals vs. Canadiens schedule: Dates, times, TV channels, scores for 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series

It wasn’t just a historic season for Alex Ovechkin, who broke the all-time scoring record. The Capitals had a standout season, too.

They finished first in the Eastern Conference and posted their most points in a season since 2016-17, a year before they won the Stanley Cup. It’s also the first 50-win season since the 2016-17 campaign.

Ovechkin has aged masterfully, still presenting as one of the top goal scorers in the league despite being 39. He pairs with Dylan Strome on the first line to form a dynamic duo.

The Capitals have home ice advantage through the Eastern Conference playoffs and will play the Canadiens in the first round. Montreal hasn’t made the postseason since it lost in the Stanley Cup Final in 2020-21.

Meanwhile, Washington has been a playoff fixture nearly every year, but it’s lost in the first round each appearance since it won the championship.

Here’s what you need to know to watch Capitals vs. Canadiens, including broadcast information and start times.
