Drought continues Leicester City have hit the woodwork four times at the King Power Stadium since last scoring a home goal in the league.
That last home goal came on December 8.
It means it’s been over four months since the Foxes’ home support have seen their side hit the back of the net.
Liverpool will hope to keep them out this afternoon.
After 20 minutes of action, the Reds’ clean sheet is intact.
‘He was sore’Mikel Arteta has given an update on Bukayo Saka.
Saka was pictured with ice on his ankle after coming off before the hour following a red-card challenge from Leif Davis.
He took a heavy whack to the back of his ankle, and some concerns have been raised over his fitness.
Especially considering a Champions League semi-final against PSG is coming up next week…
However, Arteta doesn’t think things are too bad.
He said post-match: “He was sore because of the tackle, but it doesn’t look anything serious.”
“He’s fine, it looks all good”.
Credit: Sky SportsWoodwork! The post is now struck at the other end!
Wilfred Ndidi crashes his low effort off the woodwork to deny Leicester a rare home goal!
Stephy Mavididi does well on the left before cutting one back to Ndidi and he comes close to an opener.
Alisson was beaten!
Then, as Liverpool break away, Mohamed Salah forces Mads Hermansen into a great save in the box.
It’s been a frantic start at the King Power.
How’s your luck? Oh wow, how are Liverpool not in front?
After just two minutes or so, Mohamed Salah should have put the Reds in front against Leicester.
Salah breaks clear in the box and looks to find the bottom corner, but the ball bounces off both posts and out.
Wow.
The offside flag stayed down, so it would have counted.
Kick-off! We’re underway in Leicester!
Can Liverpool move to within a win of the title?
Or can the Foxes somehow delay their relegation?
We’ll find out over the next 90 minutes at the King Power.
Making a stand A plane has been flying over the King Power Stadium ahead of kick-off between Leicester and Liverpool.
Some Foxes fans had raised money to organise the flyover to send a message to the club’s ownership.
The banner reads: “King Power clueless. Sack the board.”
It comes with Leicester set to be relegated from the Premier League for the second time in three years this afternoon.
Fans are unhappy with the mismanagement of the club, with issues on and off the pitch culminating in protests.
The Foxes were playing in Europe only three years ago, but another spell in the Championship is nearing.
Contrast of emotionsLook away now, Man United fans…
United have now lost 15 games in the league this season.
That’s the same amount that Liverpool have lost in the last three Premier League campaigns in total.
On top of that, the Red Devils have lost eight league home games this season, which is their most at Old Trafford since 1963.
Meanwhile, for Wolves, they have now won five consecutive top-flight league games for the first time in 55 years.
This is also the first time they’ve done the league double over Man United since 1980.
Up nextWe’re heading to the King Power Stadium now.
Liverpool are looking to move within one win of the title, with Arsenal denying them the chance to claim it today.
The Reds will feel confident against a poor Leicester side.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side have to win to keep their status as a top-flight team, but they’re pretty much down already.
Leicester sit 18 points from safety with six games left, with a significantly worse goal difference than West Ham in 17th.
Here are the two line-ups…
Full times There we go, the final whistles have blown.
Arsenal have cruised to a win over Ipswich, while Chelsea fought back to beat Fulham in dramatic circumstances.
As for Man United, they’ve come crashing down after a Europa League thriller, being beaten by Wolves.
Vitor Pereira’s side have now won five in a row and they’re officially safe from the drop.
However, that result all but relegates Leicester City ahead of their game against Liverpool, which will come next.
GOAL! Ipswich 0-4 Arsenal: Ethan Nwaneri Arsenal have another late on!
Ethan Nwaneri gets in on the act, scoring past Alex Palmer thanks to a hefty deflection in the box.
The Gunners have backed up their incredible win over Real Madrid with three points in the Premier League.
And Liverpool can’t win the title this afternoon.
GOAL! Fulham 1-2 Chelsea: Pedro Neto A LATE TURNAROUND IS COMPLETE!
PEDRO NETO WINS IT FOR CHELSEA!
In the 93rd minute, Neto has saved the Blues and scored a goal that keeps his side in the Champions League fight.
It’s a stunner too, as he takes a touch in the box and swings his body on the half-turn, smashing into the back of the net.
They looked beaten heading into the final 10 minutes.
But they’ve turned it around late on and now look set for a crucial three points at Craven Cottage.
GOAL! Fulham 1-1 Chelsea: Tyrique George CHELSEA HAVE EQUALISED!
With seven minutes to go, the Blues are level!
Tyrique George has scores his first Premier League goal and it’s a brilliant won, firing in from the edge of the box.
George sees the ball bounce at his feet and with no hesitation, he unleashes a powerful low effort into the bottom corner.
We’ve entered the final stages in the 2pms…
GOAL! Man United 0-1 Wolves: Pablo SarabiaWOLVES LEAD AT OLD TRAFFORD!
What a goal it is from Pablo Sarabia!
He whips a brilliant free-kick over the wall into the top corner, putting Man United behind.
Andre Onana didn’t stand a chance with that.
If things stay the same, Wolves will move onto the same points as Man United as their incredible turnaround continues.
It would pretty much confirm Leicester’s relegation too.
GOAL! Ipswich 0-3 Arsenal: Leandro Trossard Arsenal have wrapped things up!
Leandro Trossard finishes low into the back of the net to make it three for the Gunners against Ipswich.
It’s the first time Trossard has netted twice in a game in 127 appearances across all competitions.
This result will all but confirm the Tractor Boys’ relegation, while Liverpool now can’t win the league today.
The away end at Portman Road is bouncing.
This has been extremely convincing from Mikel Arteta’s men.
Super FrankThe Chelsea fans are trying to lift their spirits.
But Enzo Maresca might not feel too happy about it.
Chants for Frank Lampard have been ringing around Craven Cottage from the away end, with the Blues fans singing his name.
Of course, Lampard is a club icon and former manager, and his name is regularly chanted in the stands during their games.
However, amid a potential disconnect between the Chelsea support and current manager Maresca, it’s certainly interesting.
Especially when considering Lampard’s success at Coventry this season, as his side close in on the Championship play-offs.
And this stat becomes ever more relevant…
Maresca’s points per game in the Premier League as Chelsea manager will drop below Lampard’s if this score stays the same.
Calling on the captainBruno Fernandes is on for Manchester United.
It’s still goalless at Old Trafford as they face Wolves.
Rasmus Hojlund has just come inches away from an opener, but that chance is one of a very limited few in this game.
There’s just over 20 minutes to go.
Chelsea are still 1-0 down at Fulham and despite having six shots at the hosts’ goal in the second half, they’re struggling.
At Portman Road, Arsenal are dominant and look set to be cruising towards a win against Ipswich.
Team news! The teams are in for this afternoon’s later kick-off.
Liverpool can move one step closer to the Premier League title with a win at the King Power Stadium this afternoon.
Arne Slot has made two changes to his side, as Curtis Jones comes out of the team for Dominik Szoboszlai.
Cody Gakpo starts over Diogo Jota too, while Trent Alexander-Arnold returns to the squad for the first time since March 11.
As for Leicester, who can be relegated today, they’ve made a few changes, with Wout Faes coming in for Caleb Okoli.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid starts out wide, while Ricardo Pereira is preferred to James Justin at right-back.
Leicester XI: Hermansen, Ricardo, Faes, Coady, Thomas, Soumare, Ndidi, El Khannouss, De Cordova-Reid, Mavididi, Vardy.
Subs: Stolarczyk, Okoli, Justin, Kristiansen, Skipp, Buonanotte, Monga, Ayew, Daka.
Liverpool XI: Alisson, Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Salah, Gakpo.
Subs: Kelleher, Quansah, Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, Endo, Jones, Elliott, Nunez, Jota.
Credit: GettyDouble change Enzo Maresca has changed things up for the second half.
His side were heavily booed off at the break, so he’s had to switch his team around to try and get back into the game.
Captain Reece James and Noni Madueke were off at half-time.
Jadon Sancho and Malo Gusto are on.
Can they make the difference and force a turnaround?
Maresca and Chelsea need it badly.
‘It’s nasty’ The second halves are now underway.
At half-time, talkSPORT’s Perry Groves assessed Leif Davis’ sending off and he wasn’t happy with the challenge at all.
Davis stamped on the back of Bukayo Saka’s ankle with his late tackle and apologised to fans as he left the pitch.
Speaking on talkSPORT about the incident, Groves said: “It’s 100 per cent a sending off. It’s nasty. It’s horrible.
“He knows what he’s doing. It’s studs up…he’s hit his Achilles and his ankle. He has tried to do him.
“You know, when you apologise to the Ipswich fans, well, don’t apologise, get off the pitch because it’s a coward’s tackle.
“I hope he doesn’t try and say sorry afterwards because why say sorry when you’ve meant to do something? It’s premeditated.”
Half time There go the half-time whistles.
Arsenal comfortably lead at Portman Road, controlling possession and peppering 10-man Ipswich’s goal.
Liverpool are going to have their title celebrations delayed.
At Old Trafford, there have only been four shots from both teams combined in what has been far from a thriller.
And at Craven Cottage, Fulham lead Chelsea thanks to Alex Iwobi’s goal after 20 minutes.
As things stand, the Blues will remain three points off the top five while Marco Silva’s men enter the top eight.
Ipswich 0-2 Arsenal Fulham 1-0 Chelsea Man United 0-0 Wolves
Booing Bukayo The Ipswich fans are now booing Bukayo Saka.
Despite Leif Davis seemingly admitting his wrongdoing with his terrible challenge, the hosts seem to blame Saka.
He’s stepping up to try and get back at them though, causing all sorts of problems on every attack.
The Arsenal winger has had seen a couple of shots fly just wide of the post as he looks to make it three.
Elsewhere, it’s still goalless at Old Trafford and Chelsea are struggling against Fulham, trailing 1-0.
Seeing red It’s gone from bad to worse for Ipswich.
Leif Davis has just been sent off for a reckless tackle.
He goes through the back of Bukayo Saka and catches him, diving in very late and standing on Saka’s achilles.
The left-back has no complaints and the replays show why, with him apologising to the home support as he walks off.
The Premier League released a statement on the incident, confirming: “The referee’s call of red card to Davis for serious foul play was checked and confirmed by VAR – with the challenge deemed to be endangering the safety of an opponent.”
GOAL! Ipswich 0-2 Arsenal: Gabriel MartinelliIT’S TWO FOR ARSENAL!
They’re not going to let Liverpool win this league today!
It’s brilliant from the Gunners as Bukayo Saka breaks down the right and cuts a lovely pass back into the box.
Saka finds Mikel Merino who then flicks on to Gabriel Martinelli at the back post and he taps home.
Ipswich are being outclassed here.
Adrian Durham live on talkSPORT: “It’s like a training session.”
Slow start At Old Trafford, things have been very slow.
The first shot from either team came in the 21st minute.
That was for Nelson Semedo and he missed the target.
The possession has been evenly split between Man United and Wolves but action has been lacking.
Let’s hope for something to get that game going!
GOAL! Fulham 1-0 Chelsea: Alex Iwobi And now Chelsea trail!
Alex Iwobi gives Fulham the lead at Craven Cottage!
It’s really poor from Reece James and he hesitates on the ball and gets muscled off it by Ryan Sessegnon.
Sessegnon then breaks forward and plays a near pass into Iwobi, who takes a touch and fires in from the edge.
Just over 20 minutes gone and the Blues are behind.
They are the only Premier League team yet to win away in 2025 and it means their Champions League hopes are slipping away.
