Dutch regulator issues warning to 711 BV

The Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) has issued a warning to 711 BV, an online gambling provider, for displaying gambling ads on a website aimed at minors.

The warning follows a report from a parent who saw a 711 ad banner on a website related to homework from primary schools.

By law, gambling providers are not allowed to advertise to vulnerable groups, including minors. The KSA considers this form of advertising to be very harmful and therefore a serious violation. Taking action against such advertising and taking additional measures to protect minors and young people will be a priority for the KSA in 2025.

The 711 advertising campaign was carried out by an external partner. This party placed the banners on various websites, including websites that are (partially) aimed at minors. In a conversation with KSA, 711 indicated that it had already discovered this itself after an internal investigation and had taken measures to prevent it from happening again. The provider had not reported it, although it should have: licensees are required to report to KSA any errors on their part that may pose a risk to consumers.

KSA responded to the violation with a warning, since 711 had discovered and stopped the violation itself and had taken measures to prevent it from happening again.
