Browns’ No. 2 overall pick has only 1 correct draft choice
The Cleveland Browns don’t normally get this chance.
They can’t afford to spoil it.
The Browns will pick No. 2 on Thursday night in the NFL Draft first round. They’ll have options at that spot, presumably everyone but QB Cam Ward, Tennessee’s for sure selection.
There’s only one player the Browns should actually draft, though, and his name is Travis Hunter.
The two-way Heisman winner was Hunter, who was arguably the best receiver in the country and in this draft class. Hunter’s cornerback skills are also special.
Hunter is the guy you get in your building and then you figure out. You can’t shake his personality or his spirit.Â
There hasn’t been a player available like this in a draft, maybe ever. And the fact that the Browns can stay at No. 2 and get him is brilliantly fortunate for the entire franchise.

The unprecedented draft prospect has already said he’ll retire if he doesn’t play both ways, so that makes things a little more straightforward for the Browns as far as picking Hunter’s position, too.
Give him reps at corner. Give him reps at receiver.Â
Figure out what his best skillset is and tailor an offense or defense toward it. Frankly, tailor both toward it.
But the Browns can’t pass this up. They just can’t.Â
They’ve had high picks before. Baker Mayfield was a solid one, although traded away kind of early. Myles Garrett was clearly a hit.
But Hunter is a whole different entity, one of the most gifted athletes to ever live. There’s no debate here. Draft Hunter.
And once you draft Hunter, let him feel out his positional ability. Let him see where he’s most at home and what he’s the best at.
Make Cleveland the big home for Hunter while he misses out on his parents, and make him want to stay for a dozen years here. There’d be plenty of contract go around for that.
There’s only one guy to want at No. 2, and his name is Travis Hunter. Write him in for the next 15 years in Cleveland. By then, it could finally be here, the chance to be a Super Bowl champion.Â
