Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen: A Complete Relationship Timeline

Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen may have started dating around the same time as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, but their relationship is a completely different ball game.

Unlike the couple that literally inspired a Hallmark movie, the 27-year-old actor and the 28-year-old NFL player have largely kept their romance away from the public eye. While they were first linked in May 2023, Allen waited over a year to hard-launch the relationship on Instagram. Just four months after that, he popped the big question on November 22.

Even so, Allen made sure to go all-out for his beach-side proposal in late November. Surrounded by a pink floral arch and too many candles to count, the quarterback knelt in front of the Marvel actor, who was dressed in a black-and-white shirtdress and knee-high boots. He captioned a photo from the gorgeous moment on Instagram with infinity symbols and the date of their engagement.

Mind you, these two hadn’t even made their red-carpet debut yet! So when and how did the WAG-ification of Hailee Steinfeld begin? Here’s the low-key couple’s complete relationship timeline, with the most recent updates up top.

April 22, 2025: Allen promotes Steinfeld’s latest projects during a Buffalo Bills press conference. “It was awesome,” Allen told reporters, per People. “I’m so excited for her and so proud of her, and it’s getting some great reviews. It’s a fantastic movie, so go watch it.”

He continued, “I’m just there trying to support her in whatever way that I can. That was her moment and I’m so glad she got to shine.”

April 7, 2025: Steinfeld plays coy when asked about wedding plans during her Sinners press tour. “We are in the middle of a press tour,” she tells Extra when asked about her nuptials. “We got a movie coming out in 12 days? Six, something. We’re focused on that.”

March 18, 2025: Steinfeld dishes on Allen’s grooming habits in an interview with Glamour. “Luckily, he’s into hair care and skin care, so he’s got his whole little deal figured out,” she told Glamour, though she’s “also trying to get him to wear SPF” at the moment.

March 6, 2025: A source tells Us Weekly that the couple is currently in wedding-planning mode. “They don’t want a long engagement, and the wedding planning is already underway,” the source said. “Hailee is very excited about the planning process and now that Josh is done with the season, she hopes they can have more time to make decisions together.”

The source claims the pair are “nailing down the logistics and are location scouting right now” and that the event will be “very intimate but extravagant.”

February 6, 2025: Proud fiancee alert! Allen has officially been named the NFL’s 2025 most valuable player, and Steinfeld couldn’t be more supportive.

Allen won the award at the NFL Honors and immediately gave his fiancée a kiss after his name was called. She beamed as he made his way onstage to accept the top prize of the night and even more so when he thanked her from the stage.

“You’ve been my rock, you’re my best friend. I would not be standing on the stage if it weren’t for you,” he said.

The NFL Honors is also one of the first times the couple has appeared on a red carpet together, and they looked fabulous, of course! Steinfeld kept it classic with a strapless, figure-hugging black gown, black pumps, and her hair in soft waves.

And of course, she rocked her gorgeous engagement ring.

January 26, 2025: Once again the Bills lose their playoff game against the Chiefs, sparking a bunch of sad Allen edits on TikTok. However, fans on X.com don’t feel too bad for the Bills quarterback, reminding everyone that his life is pretty good right now.

“Gotta imagine this will be a tough couple minutes for Josh Allen until he remembers he’s marrying Hailee Steinfeld,” joked Barstool Sports, while another fan wrote, “At the end of the day, Josh Allen is going back to Hailee Steinfeld so who really won.”

January 24, 2025: Steinfeld thanks “God (and Josh)” that her favorite photographer, Kat Temkin, was able to capture her engagement. “Over the past few years, Kat Temkin has photographed almost every big life moment,” Steinfeld writes in her “Beau Society” newsletter, per Sports Illustrated. “Thank God (and Josh), that Kat was there on the day I got engaged. No one could have captured that moment like she did and I’ll cherish her photos forever.”

January 12, 2025: Steinfeld joins her fellow Bills WAGs at one of Allen’s playoff games in a Bills hat and sporty red jacket with Allen’s jersey number, 17. That same day, the brand Denim Designs by LV appears to reveal another custom jacket that’s been sent to Steinfeld. “Name a better way to rep your fiancé🫶🏼💙,” the designer captioned a photo of the jacket, further hinting at the owner in the comments.

Meanwhile, Delaware North congratulates the couple on their engagement, dubbing Hailee Steinfeld the “New Queen” of Buffalo on a billboard that goes viral in January. Congrats on the title, Hailee!

December 18, 2024: Allen credits Steinfeld as a “huge part” of his MVP-worthy football season. “The morale, the support. When I get home, she’s my biggest fan, my biggest supporter,” he tells reporters, per People. “She’s just the best.”

December 2, 2024: In a post-game interview, Allen says “it felt good, it felt free,” to play football as a “soon-to-be-married man.”

November 22, 2024: Allen proposes to Steinfeld in front of a gorgeous pink floral arch.

October 31, 2024: Steinfeld shares her first grid photos of Allen on Halloween. The couple appear to have thrown a circus-themed party with both dressed as the ring leaders.

September 30, 2024: Steinfeld and Allen’s mom, Lavonne, stock up on Buffalo Bills merch at Leveled Up Buffalo in East Aurora, New York.

September 23, 2024: Steinfeld cheers on her partner at a Bills game, though she reportedly wasn’t filmed during the television broadcast.

August 2, 2024: Allen appears to blush when called “Mr. Hard Launch” during an appearance on the Up & Adams podcast, simply remarking, “We love love.”

“Hailee and Josh enjoyed dinner at Sushi by Bou in New York City over Memorial Day weekend,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “At one point in the night, Josh got behind the bar and served Hailee. They looked sweet together and seemed like they had a great time.”

May 25, 2023: The couple are photographed in New York City amid rumors that Allen had split from longtime girlfriend Brittany Williams. According to People, Allen and Williams had known each other since childhood and began dating in 2017, a year before he was drafted to the Bills.
