Only 3 weeks to go until SBEA+ summit 2025
Three weeks from now, East Africa’s most powerful iGaming conversations ignite at the 10th Annual Sports Betting East Africa+ Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Join C-level executives, esteemed legal strategists, and innovators from 20 – 21 May 2025 at the prestigious Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel, for two days of impactful discussions that will shape the region’s gaming future.
Tanzania’s deeply rooted betting culture – long established before the rise of formal sportsbooks and casinos – has paved the way for a lively land-based betting market and a thriving digital ecosystem. Today, the country stands at the forefront of East Africa’s iGaming evolution – making Dar es Salaam the ideal host city for this premier iGaming event.
Peter Mshikilwa Mukandi, President of the Esports Federation of Tanzania, mentioned:
Esports is more than just gaming – it encompasses a wide range of transferable skills: digital literacy and ICT, critical thinking and problem-solving, entrepreneurship and content creation, and opportunities beyond playing.
As the esports sector grows, stakeholders can ensure that youth have access to resources through talent development and sponsorship, infrastructure development, and youth engagement in marketing for esports development.
Peter also highlights the vast investment potential within East Africa’s esports sector. He notes a rising demand for infrastructure, from gaming hubs and internet cafés to dedicated training centres, particularly in underserved areas. The region’s youthful demographic can be effectively engaged through influencer-led marketing via gamers and streamers. Moreover, Peter highlights the importance of localising games to reflect East African stories, cultures, and languages, fostering deeper resonance with players.
Peter Mshikilwa Mukandi, President of the Esports Federation of Tanzania, added:
Esports in East Africa is a rapidly emerging sector with vast untapped potential. By combining youth interest in gaming with structured skill development programs, stakeholders – from educators to entrepreneurs – can create inclusive opportunities for innovation, employment, and education.
