Eagles lose front office executive who’s been with them for 23 years

The Philadelphia Eagles are losing senior director of college scouting Anthony Patch to the Las Vegas Raiders.

This much according to an official team announcement by the Raiders. Patch’s new title is “senior personnel executive.”

Patch originally joined the Eagles as a college scouting coordinator in 2002. He worked his way up the scouting department ladder, eventually earning the position of director of college scouting in 2012. He was briefly fired in 2015 as Chip Kelly (who is now the Raiders’ offensive coordinator, by the way) and Ed Marynowitz were granted control of the Eagles’ personnel department. Patch then returned with the title of senior director of college scouting when Howie Roseman’s power was reinstated in 2016.

New Raiders general manager John Spytek and Patch notably overlapped in Philly from 2005-2009. One would imagine Patch is getting a raise to leave the Eagles. He might also have more influence in his new role.

Though it’s never ideal to lose talented contributors in any capacity, the Eagles have been no strangers to having their front office poached in recent years. That’s the price of success associated with two Super Bowl wins since 2017.

The onus is on Howie Roseman to ensure the Eagles’ front office talent is well-stocked. He’s done a pretty good job thus and he’ll have to keep it up.

The Eagles will likely formally announce some front office changes within the next month or so. They previously did so in early June last year.
