Light Novel ‘Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku.’ Gets TV Anime in 2026

Publishing company AlphaPolis opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Shiki’s Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku. (Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess) light novel on Monday, revealing the main staff and a teaser visual (pictured). The anime is scheduled to premiere in 2026.

Shiki began writing the fantasy romance story on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2016 before removing it in March 2017. AlphaPolis published the light novel in two volumes in May and September 2017, featuring illustrations by Hachipisuwan. Shiki began penning the Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Tsuma no Kansatsu Kiroku. sequel light novel in April 2022. The fourth volume went on sale in May 2024, with the fifth volume planned for a May 23 release. The light novel has a cumulative 2.45 million copies of its volumes in print.

Natsume Hasumi serialized a six-volume manga adaptation of the original light novel in Regina from May 2018 August 2021. Hasumi began drawing a manga adaptation of the sequel light novel in the same magazine in March 2022. The third volume is also set to be released on May 23.

Hanashi Media licensed the original light novel in English in April 2024 and released the second volume on February 28. Alpha Manga licensed the manga in English and released all six volumes between June and December 2023.

Synopsis

For a natural genius like Crown Prince Cecil Glow Alfostar, every day is a bore. Knowledge and skills come far too easily for him, to the point that nothing can captivate his interest. However, this changes the day he meets someone who never fails to betray his expectations—his fiancée and self-proclaimed villainess Bertia Evil Nochesse.

Bertia claims that this world is that of an “otome game.” She has been reborn as the villainess, and it is her duty to impede the relationship between Cecil and the heroine. Never one to shy away from fate, she zealously takes to her evil role… to mixed results. Though she doesn’t realize it, Bertia’s supposedly “evil deeds” always come off as sincere and kind.
