Tina Knowles Gushes Over Granddaughter Rumi’s Cowboy Carter Moment

How Beyoncé’s Daughter Rumi Carter Feels About Joining Cowboy Carter Tour

Tina Knowles loved her grandbaby’s latest moment on stage.

While Rumi Carter has become a regular appearance alongside BeyoncĂ© and big sister Blue Ivy Carter during the performance of “Protector,” night one of the Cowboy Carter tour in Rutherford, New Jersey May 22 particularly pulled on Tina’s heartstrings.

In a video shared on Instagram that night, the Matriarch author captured a sweet impromptu moment of BeyoncĂ© and the 7-year-old as Blue and other dancers perform behind them. In the video, Rumi—who donned a white coat that matched her mother’s—looked up at her mother and sang along with her to her hit “Dangerously in Love.”

BeyoncĂ© smiled and kissed Rumi on the head, before she was escorted off stage by her big sister. Next to the clip, Tina, 71, gushed, “My beautiful grandbaby Rumi singing with her mom and wearing a matching coat is the cutest moment ever.”

Rumi has been a fixture during the Cowboy Carter tour, appearing onstage with her mother and sister since night one. Tina recently shared how Rumi truly feels about being in front of thousands of fans each night.

“You know my granddaughter Rumi told me, I said, ‘How do you feel when you wave and everybody screams?’” Tina, 71, revealed during May 19 stop of her Matriarch book tour in Brooklyn, New York. “She said, ‘It feels powerful.’ I was like, ‘Oh. I see what you mean.’”

The former clothing designer also dished on another viral Cowboy Carter moment featuring Rumi, where fans thought she was being scolded by her grandmother when she appeared to reach for the microphone in the middle of Beyoncé’s speech celebrating the success of her book.

“It was real, it was real life,” she quipped during her book tour stop in Brooklyn. “Grandmas don’t play. No, it really wasn’t that. It was just that she was reaching for the mic because she wanted to say something, and I realized that.”

However, Tina was wary of any potential faux pas.

“She was pulling,” Tina explained. “I was like ‘Oh God, that’s all that needs to happen is that the mic hits her in the face, and they say ‘Oh, Beyonce hit her in the face.’”

Nevertheless, Tina emphasized the moment on stage with her daughter and granddaughters was “special.”

“It was from a different perspective,” she detailed. “I mean I’m usually behind the stage. But it was actually fun, it was exciting.”
