Embattled Gacha Infinity Nikki Attempts to Rescue Its Reputation with New PS5 Update

Playful Season gets release back on track

After an extended delay while developer Infold worked to fight fires, Infinity Nikki’s next update has been announced, with a 12th June release date confirmed.

For those who haven’t been following, the gacha game’s milestone v1.5 update was a disaster, retconning the release’s story, incorporating an undercooked co-op mode, and borderline breaking the game on the PS5. The Chinese studio released a slew of grovelling apologies as a result.

Now it looks like it’s getting back to basics with v1.6, named the Playful Season. This will introduce new story quests involving a Fairy Godmother costume and talking chickens. There’ll be minigames, fresh quests, and lots of little activities to participate in, including new platforming challenges and more.

In addition to a free outfit, rewards will include 15 pulls and over 3,200 Diamonds, so this is particularly generous and perhaps a sign that the developer is working to rebuild confidence in its game after a torrid couple of months.
