Real Madrid set transfer stance as Premier League side chase breakout star

Gonzalo Garcia may not be familiar name at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu yet, but he’s starting to make a name for himself across Europe.

The 21 year old striker has been one of Real Madrid’s breakout stars at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, scoring two goals in three games in the USA.

Garcia’s link up play and a calmness in front of goal has caught the eye of scouts and fans as he deputises for the absent Kylian Mbappe in the United States.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Premier League new boys Leeds United have already made a €20m [$23.5m] offer to sign him.

Daniel Farke is looking to rebuild his squad following their promotion back to the top-flight and adding in a goal scorer is a vital objective for the German coach.

Sunderland, who also earned promotion back to the EPL, have reportedly proposed a loan move with a compulsory purchase option if they survive their first season back in the big time.

Will Real Madrid sell Gonzalo Garcia?Real Madrid, however, are not rushing to sell their emerging striker, with Real Madrid Confidential reporting how Xabi Alonso has spoken personally with Garcia and convinced him to stay.

Alonso is a big fan of the academy product and told a pre-Club World Cup interview with Goal- “I have no doubts about Gonzalo. He’s done it many times……..he has Raul qualities.”

If that stance changes in the coming weeks, Real Madrid will push to include a buy-back clause worth €30m [$35m] in any exit deal, which would allow the club to reclaim him if he flourishes elsewhere.
