NBA free agency isn’t as exciting as it used to be. With the new salary cap limitations, it seems like free agency isn’t how the best players to move from team to team. Deals like the Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets trade are now what define NBA star player movement. That’s why NBA insider, Kevin O’Connor, hypothesized on the idea of expanding that KD trade into a deal that lands the Warriors LeBron James.
“If you really want to get crazy… the KD to Houston deal is not done yet… You could add third teams or fourth teams… Phoenix wanted Butler. So maybe you send LeBron and Bronny James to Golden State, Jimmy Butler to Phoenix, Kevin Durant to Houston, and then Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks to the Lakers.”
This is one hell of a Warriors-LeBron trade.
Unfortunately for the Warriors, as great as pairing LeBron with Curry may seem, this trade idea just doesn’t make sense for the Warriors.
Replacing Butler with LeBron just isn’t worth it. Butler is younger, and although he obviously doesn’t have the same pedigree as James, he is currently a more valuable player.
Butler isn’t without his injury and age concerns, but he showed last season that when healthy, he can be the perfect second fiddle to Stephen Curry.
If a Warriors-LeBron trade were to ever happen, Draymond Green would be a much more likely star to throw into the deal.

That likely won’t happen either, which means at least this season, a Warriors-LeBron trade is extremely unlikely.
