Update [Thu 10th Jul 2025, 4:30pm]: Remember this?! It’s just been announced today that Hotel Barcelona will be launching in September 2025, with the game now available to wishlist on Xbox. A new trailer was also shared a few months ago, which you can watch at the top of the article.

Here are a few more details on the game itself:

“Justine, a rookie U.S. Marshal, thought this was just another routine case. But when her car crashes in a freak accident at the edge of nowhere, she finds herself trapped in a twisted new world: HOTEL BARCELONA. In this blood-soaked 2.5D sidescroller straight from your nightmares: Battle through insane horror-themed floors! Face killers inspired by the nastiest corners of your local video store! Every time you die, your past self fights beside you – like a ghost with a grudge!”

Original Story: Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2023 broadcast has now wrapped up, and one of the livestream’s closing reveals was that bonkers horror title Hotel Barcelona is officially coming to Xbox next year.

First announced years ago but now properly unveiled, Hotel Barcelona contains “2.5D slasher film parodic action”, and it’s coming from two very famous Japanese game development minds. Swery65 (Deadly Premonition, D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die) and Suda51 (Lollipop Chainsaw, Shadows of the Damned) are teaming up to bring this chaotic action game to life.

Below are some in-game screenshots from Hotel Barcelona ahead of its 2024 release on Xbox Series X|S, and we’ve dropped the brand-new gameplay trailer up above.
