There have been a lot of speculations that Wilfred Ndidi will leave Leicester City this summer

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has been linked with a transfer to top clubs like Manchester United and Juventus this summer, but the speculations have gotten cold over the past week, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 28-year-old midfielder is coming off a disappointing campaign with Leicester City that saw the club get relegated from the Premier League after finishing 18th. Nonetheless, Ndidi was a standout performer for the Foxes.

Following Leicester City’s relegation, it was confirmed that the Super Eagles star’s release clause had dropped to €9 million.

Since then, Ndidi has been linked with multiple clubs in the Premier League and the other top five leagues.

Aside from United and Juve, Everton, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen have been touted as potential destinations.

Why Wilfred Ndidi might stay at Leicester City
However, none of the clubs linked have made a move yet. In fact, Ndidi has been heavily involved in Leicester City’s pre-season.

The former Gent man has started Leicester City’s last three pre-season games, against Leuven, Zalaegerszegi, and Karpaty Lviv.

For a player who has been linked with multiple clubs, this suggests that he just might not be leaving Leicester City this summer.

If Ndidi was expected to leave the club, the new coach Marti Cifuentes would not put him in his pre-season plans.

So by the looks of it, Ndidi might not leave the Foxes this summer. Moreover, the club can still afford to hold on to him, as he has two years left on his contract. As such they don’t risk losing him for free.

The Foxes still have two preparatory games lined up before the Championship season kicks off on August 10. They will kick off their campaign with a game against Sheffield Wednesday at the King Power Stadium.
