Gunners’ transfer options assessed, with Arteta “actively looking” at additions

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta addresses the possibility of his side adding more players this summer transfer window amid links to more attacking players.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has claimed that the club are actively looking at bringing in more players before the closure of the transfer window.

The Gunners beat Athletic Club 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in a pre-season friendly, with goals from Viktor Gyokeres, Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz sealing victory.

Despite a number of additions having been made this summer, some fans are concerned about whether the club have strengthened enough to challenge champions Liverpool.

Speaking to reporters after his team’s win on the weekend, Arteta did not rule out further reinforcements, saying: “Let’s see what happens in terms of where the squad is in the next few weeks, but we are actively looking at options, as well there are a few players maybe that they have to leave as well so we’ll be open to see what happens.”

The club are said to still be in the market for offensive players this summer, but it is not certain if they will make a move for the likes of Rodrygo or Eberechi Eze.

Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze and Real Madrid winger RodrygoArsenal have been strongly linked with the signature of Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze, and given he scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists for the Eagles last term, it is easy to see how he would improve Arteta’s squad.

It should be noted that Palace are at risk of losing centre-back Marc Guehi due to the fact he has just a year left on his contract, and they may not be willing to lose arguably their two best players in one transfer window.

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has also been touted as an option for the Gunners, and his creativity from the left flank could push Arsenal over the line in 2025-26.

The Brazilian scored 13 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions last season for Los Blancos, but it is important to highlight that he was played out of position for much of the campaign due to the presence of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.

Could Gabriel Martinelli be sold to fund deals?Winger Gabriel Martinelli’s place in the starting XI has been questioned, with the Brazilian scoring eight league goals in 2024-25 and six goals in 2023-24.

The arrival of Noni Madueke from Chelsea could increase competition on the left flank, but it is difficult to see which club would come in for Martinelli.

With two years left on his contract, the sale of the forward in this summer’s window would likely see the club extract maximum value, but Arteta could still have him in his squad in 2025-26.

Attacker Leandro Trossard may be more likely to depart considering he is 30 years old and has just one year remaining on his deal, so if a forward was to leave, fans should not be surprised if the Belgian left this transfer window.
