Landon Dickerson injury update: Eagles avoid worst case scenario
Hereās a more concrete Landon Dickerson injury update following the vague one from earlier on Monday: the Philadelphia Eaglesā three-time Pro Bowl left guard will have āa minor procedureā on the torn meniscus in his right knee that will have him āweek-to-weekā with the goal of being able to play against the Dallas Cowboys in the regular season opener on September 4.
Dickersonās estimated recovery timeline certainly beats one where heās out for the entirety of the 2025 NFL season, which was feared to be possible after he was carted off Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday night.
Even if Dickerson isnāt ready to play in Week 1, it sounds like heāll avoid going on short-term injured reserve. He wouldāve been ineligible to play in the Eaglesā first four games in that case.
It remains to be seen to what extent, if any, that Dickerson will be hampered by his knee injury when he does get back on the field. But a less than 100% Dickerson still beats the alternative.
Speaking of, itās not yet clear how the Eagles will handle Dickersonās absence in the weeks leading up to the regular season. Brett Toth has taken first-team left guard when Dickersonās been resting during training camp. But itās also possible that the Eagles could work Matt Pryor into the mix, either by playing him on the left side or moving Tyler Steen and putting Pryor in at right guard. Weāll see when the Eagles return to training camp on Tuesday morning.
For now, the Eagles can at least be happy that the worst case scenario for Dickerson was avoided.
