‘Dream fight’ … Michael ‘Venom’ Page called out by legendary champion after UFC 319 win

Believe it or not, there are still people lining up to fight Michael ‘Venom’ Page after UFC 319.

The former Bellator star has proven himself as one of the best strikers to step into the Octagon, dropping top middleweight contender Jared Cannonier twice en route to a decision win on Saturday night in Chicago.

With his speed advantage and unpredictability on the feet, Page has been an extremely frustrating puzzle to figure out, going 3-1 in the UFC’s welterweight and middleweight divisions.

Following Page’s win at UFC 319, a former champion who’s fought across three weight classes called for a welterweight clash with the UFC star.

Coming from a Tae Kwon Do background, the former UFC and WEC Lightweight Champion went viral for kicking Benson Henderson off the cage in 2010.

Pettis had many highlights in the UFC. One of his more notable moments was when he became the first man to knock out legendary striker Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson with a superman punch in his welterweight debut back in 2019.

Years later, the free agent wouldn’t mind returning to the UFC welterweight division against ‘MVP’.

“Me and MVP at 170!!!” Pettis wrote on X.

#DreamFight,” Pettis added.

“MVP is raw!!! Wish I fought him!”

“Facts,” Pettis responded to a fan saying it’s not too late for the fight to happen.

Anthony Pettis hasn’t fought in the UFC in almost five yearsFollowing a near-decade in the UFC, Pettis tested free agency after completing his contract against Alex Morono in Dec. 2020.

‘Showtime’ left the premier promotion with a winning record and stoppages over Thompson, Charles Oliveira, Gilbert Melendez, Henderson, and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.

Pettis went 1-4 in the PFL in the years since his UFC departure. The 38-year-old hasn’t competed in MMA in three years.

In his last three fights, Pettis has defeated 54-year-old boxer Roy Jones Jr, Benson Henderson in a Karate Combat trilogy bout, and he lost to Nate Diaz teammate Chris Avila in his most recent boxing match.
