Once Upon a Katamari’s Opening Scene May Be the Jolliest Thing You’ll See Today
Can you handle the whimsy?

Bandai Namco has released the opening movie for Once Upon a Katamari, and it’s a reminder of just how whimsical and fun the series is.
The first brand new entry in a long time, this time-travelling arcade adventure has you visiting different periods to roll up historical objects and turn them into stars.
The intro video conveys that idea in the series’ usual quirky, jovial way, and it’s great:
While series creator Keita Takahashi isn’t involved, it looks as though the spirit of the franchise will live on in this new game.
The gameplay perhaps isn’t as novel as it once was, but there are still no games quite like the Katamari series, so we’re all for it making a return.
Releasing on PS5 on 24th October, it’s not too far off, either.
