Will There Be The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 4?

Warning: The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 finale spoilers ahead.

Well. After that finale, we need to know—are we getting The Summer I Turned Pretty season 4?

The TV series has been running for three years but seems to have reached cult watch level this year with its third season, which is based on (but not totally committed to) Jenny Han’s final novel, We’ll Always Have Summer. The YA book trilogy is about a young woman, Belly (Lola Tung), stuck between her love for two brothers, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney).

As we now know—and anticipated from the beginning—Belly ultimately chose Conrad and their ā€œinfiniteā€ love. But not before a few twists and turns, and a crazed run through Paris’s Gare du Nord station to catch him on the train out of Paris and declare her love. We’re getting Love, Actually vibes.

Seeing as the story is told through a trilogy of books and we’ve had three seasons, is the show all wrapped up? Could we possibly get one more season, or even a spin-off, out of it? Here’s what we know about the potential forThe Summer I Turned Pretty season 4.

Will there be The Summer I Turned Pretty season 4?It doesn’t look like it, in the traditional sense, no. ā€œThree books, three seasons. It feels right to me,ā€ author Jenny Han, who is also executive producer of the series, told Entertainment Weekly.

Season 1 was based on the first book of the trilogy, The Summer I Turned Pretty; season 2 followed the second, It’s Not Summer Without You; and season 3 is based on the final book, We’ll Always Have Summer.

With that in mind, it doesn’t seem as though The Summer I Turned Pretty season 4 is in the cards for us, sadly.

What about a Summer I Turned Pretty spin-off?At time of writing, there are no confirmed plans for a TSITP spin-off; however, we’re not prepared to give up hope yet. Remember, Jenny Han created XO, Kitty, which was a spin-off from her To All The Boys… book series and followed protagonist Lara Jean’s sister Kitty as she studies abroad in South Korea.

Plus, Han left us with a note at the end of the finale’s credits, which concludes: ā€œMaybe we’ll meet again one summer in Cousins.ā€ One summer. Could we be getting a prequel series about Susannah and Laurel’s early years? We’d really love to see a 1990s-set, nostalgia-soaked spin-off focused on these two besties. Anyone else?
