‘Hard as Sh*t’ – LeBron James Reveals His Passion for This Unexpected Sport
As Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James preps for his groundbreaking 23rd NBA season, he has been dabbling in another sport, to the apparent amusement of his peers.
James, who turns 41 in December, continues to defy Father Time, coming off his record-extending 21st All-NBA campaign. While his illustrious career has been defined by his athleticism and versatility, it appears his success hasn’t yet translated to his newest hobby.
Which Unexpected Sport Is LeBron James Passionate About?
During an interview on “360 with Speedy” released on Thursday, host Speedy Morman began by jokingly reveling in James being “a*s at golf.” The four-time MVP has taken to the greens on a few occasions this offseason, with his questionable golf swing prompting comical reactions from fellow NBA heavyweights Stephen Curry and Jayson Tatum.
James laughingly concurred with Morman’s assessment of his golf game, noting that he is “on [his] way” to improvement. Afterward, Morman asked what about the sport makes him “rock with it so much.” The Lakers icon first cited his penchant for venturing into unfamiliar territory, with little left to prove in the NBA.
“It’s hard as sh*t. That’s exactly why,” James quipped. “I wanted a challenge, man, and I like being uncomfortable.”
James added that despite his considerable room for growth, he often finds serenity between the fairways, provided he isn’t pressured to play under time constraints.
“Golf is one of the few places where I can go where I don’t get bothered as much,” James said. “I can go out on the green, me and my friends, we go out, we don’t get bothered. The only time we get bothered is when we out there being sh*tty, and the next group behind us is like, ‘Y’all need to hurry the f*ck up.’”

Entering the 2025-26 season on an expiring $52.6 million contract, rumors of James’ possible retirement next summer have been in full force. Such a decision would afford the 21-time All-Star additional time to refine his golf game and chase the likes of Curry, the 2023 American Century Championship winner.
While James acknowledged that he’s “on the other side of the hump” and that “retirement is coming,” he added that “it’s just not here just yet.” As such, golf appears likely to remain a welcome escape for the aging megastar as he continues to push the boundaries of longevity amid the twilight of his storied career.
