Banijay Rights Hopes For MIPCOM Touchdown With ‘Super Bowl Champions’
EXCLUSIVE: Banijay Rights is headed to MIPCOM with a collection of NFL stories that dive deep into each Super Bowl champ of the past four decades.
The deal with NFL Films, struck in partnership with Banijay Americas label BD4, will see the doc collection, Super Bowl Champions, being launched to buyers at MIPCOM later this month. The acquisition comes as the global demand for American football grows as the sport internationalizes with NFL games now routinely played abroad.
Super Bowl Champions tracks the entire season of each Super Bowl-winning team since 1985, including last year’s Philadelphia Eagles.
Matt Creasey, EVP Sales, Coproductions & Acquisitions, Banijay Rights, said: “The Super Bowl is one of the cornerstones of American life–a cultural event that stretches far beyond just a championship game. These insightful films form a central part of this societal and sporting tradition in what is a real ‘first down’ for Banijay Rights, as we look to broaden the international profile of American football under our new partnership with NFL Films.”

For Banijay, the partnership comes after it launched Banijay Sports, a division that works across ‘sportainment’, documentaries and digital content.
