Kyren Lacy’s Lawyer Claims To Have Evidence Disputing Lacy’s Alleged Role In Deadly Car Crash

Newly surfaced evidence appears to contradict earlier claims regarding late college football star Kyren Lacy’s involvement in a deadly car crash in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.

In an interview with HTV 10 in Houma, Lacy’s attorney, Matt Ory, shared data indicating that Lacy was not directly involved in the fatal impact that killed 78-year-old Herman Hall on December 17, 2024.

Initial reports accused Lacy of causing the crash due to his reckless driving, as well as fleeing the scene “without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash.” However, Ory now says that narrative was not supported by the facts.

“We know from data that Kyren Lacy did in fact pass four cars, there’s no disputing that,” Ory said during the interview.

“Further north, Kyren Lacy passed four cars. However, he was back in his lane of travel, 92.3 yards — back in his lane — behind Mr. Hall. At the time of impact. He’s 72.6 yards behind the vehicles at the time of impact. Key word, behind the vehicles. That is not how this story was ever painted. Never.”

The clarification comes months after Lacy’s tragic death in April 2025, when he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound sustained just prior to crashing his vehicle during a police pursuit in Houston.

His death occurred only two days before a grand jury was set to convene regarding his alleged role in the December crash.

A standout high school football recruit, Lacy played his first two seasons of collegiate football at Louisiana before transferring to Louisiana State University, where he starred as a wide-receiver for the Tigers.

In his time at LSU, Lacy compiled an impressive stat-line, with 163 receptions for 2,360 yards and had 27 touchdowns in 64 games. He was named second-team All-SEC for the 2024 season and was once considered a legitimate NFL prospect.
