PS5 Soulslike Code Vein 2 Couldn’t Be More Anime If It Tried
Watch an enormous four-minute trailer
Code Vein 2, the imminent anime Soulslike from Bandai Namco, has received a massive four-minute story trailer.
The publisher was actually showing this one in a theatre behind closed doors at the Tokyo Game Show, but now itās released it to the public. When we first watched this we didnāt understand it because it was in Japanese, but seeing it in English hasnāt really helped.
The game definitely has a thick atmosphere, and looks like a pretty big step forward in production values from its already very successful predecessor.
Hereās what the publisher has to say about it:
āThe trailer reveals a deep dive into the world of Code Vein 2 where players take the role of the Revenant Hunter to prevent the Resurgence, a cataclysmic event that threatens the fate of the world. Accompanied by Lou MagMell, a Revenant girl who revives the protagonist with her own heart and wields the power to travel through time, the Revenant Hunter embarks on a mission to rewrite history and save the world. The trailer also highlights the powerful bonds between Revenants, introduces new characters and voice performances, and features a powerful original score composed by Go Shiina, unveiling a dramatic story shaped by fate, sacrifice, and choice.ā
Bandai Namco is saying this game will have a huge focus on plot, where āplayers and characters are bound by blood, fate, and destiny, set in a future where the last remnants of humanity and Revenants struggle against a world on the verge of collapseā.
Despite this big emphasis on story, youāll be able to create your own character āwith a vast array of settings for body type, hairstyle, facial expressions, accessories, makeup, and moreā.
We havenāt had a chance to go hands-on with this one just yet, but its release date is slated for 30th January, and we have a sneaking suspicion itās going to be quietly very popular.
