What Did Jessica Pegula Say After Her QF Win at the 2025 Wuhan Open?
Pegula, seeded sixth at the 2025 Wuhan Open, began her campaign at the tournament in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. She defeated her compatriot Hailey Baptiste 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(6) and Ekaterina Alexandrova 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 in the second and third rounds, respectively.

In the quarterfinals against Siniaková, Pegula lost the first set 2-6 before making a stunning comeback, winning the following two sets and securing the match 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 in one hour and 39 minutes.

After her victory over Siniaková, Pegula stated that she felt she was in “really good shape” as she was able to “battle” through the matches effectively.

“I don’t know. I guess I’m in really good shape. I definitely don’t think I need to play anymore matches or work on any physical stuff because I’ve been able to battle through these matches and play really well. But yeah, I don’t know,” Pegula said.

Reflecting on her comeback win, the former World No. 3 noted that the match was not as “straightforward” as she would have liked for her “mental and physical” well-being.

“I’m happy I’ve been able to figure things out. Obviously, I wish maybe it was more straightforward for my mental and physical sake, but if I win every match for the rest of my life in three sets, I think I’d be pretty happy,” she added.

In addition to her singles campaign at the 2025 Wuhan Open, Pegula also competed in the doubles event alongside compatriot Ashlyn Krueger. They faced Siniaková and Storm Hunter in the first round and lost 6-1, 6-0.
