McBee Dynasty’s Steve McBee Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Fraud

Sean “Diddy” Combs Sentenced to More Than 4 Years in Prison

Steve McBee Sr. is saddling up for some time behind bars.

One day after the Bravo reality TV show McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys was renewed for season three, the family patriarch was sentenced to two years in prison for a multi-million dollar crop insurance fraud scheme, which he pleaded guilty to in November.

During an Oct. 16 sentencing hearing, U.S. District Court Judge Stephen R. Bough gave Steve, 52, a punishment of 24 months in prison, plus another two years on supervised release, according to court documents obtained by NBC News. The Bravo star was also ordered to pay $4,022,124 in restitution and a $100 special assessment to the court, per the docs.

Prior to his sentencing, the McBee Farming Operations owner “admitted that he engaged in fraudulent activity from 2018 to 2020 that caused an economic loss to the U.S. Department of Agriculture,” according to a November press release from the Department of Justice.

“McBee submitted fraudulent documents to [insurance company] Rain and Hail that underreported his total 2018 corn crop by approximately 674,812 bushels and underreported his total 2018 soybean crop by approximately 155,833 bushels,” the release stated. “As a result of these false reports, McBee received $2,605,943 in federal crop insurance benefits to which he was not entitled, as well as $552,980 in federal crop insurance premium subsidies to which he was not entitled, for a total of $3,158,923.”

Ultimately, the government claimed a total loss of $4,022,123, one dollar less than Steve’s restitution payment.

Following his sentencing, the McBee Dynasty star—who stars on the show alongside his sons Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole and Brayden—received words of support from his family.

While sharing a previous Father’s Day post dedicated to his dad, Steven wrote on his Instagram Story, “Love ya dad. Whole family is here for you.”

Meanwhile, Cole shared a family photo on his Instagram Story, writing, “We will get through anything together. To the hardest working man I know, it’s our turn to be here for you. We got you dad.”

An attorney for Steve declined to comment on the sentencing when asked by NBC News.
