Knicks cut ties with 25-year-old former Celtics lottery pick seven minutes after signing him
Fortunately for Ibrahima Diallo, he has some company after lasting with the New York Knicks for less than 25 minutes.Ā
A former Boston Celtics lottery pick was cut by the Knicks a measly seven minutes after inking a deal with the surging Eastern Conference franchise.
āNew York Knicks Waive Romeo Langford,ā the Knicksā PR team reported at 10:00 p.m. (he signed at 9:53 p.m.).Ā
Langford was a highly touted NBA prospect coming out of Indiana. While his efficiency left much to be desired (he shot 44.8% from the field and 27.2% from three-point land during his lone season with the Hoosiers), his effortless shot-creating ability made him a surefire lottery pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.Ā
The Celtics selected Langford with the No. 14 overall pick, hoping he would help shape the franchiseās future.Ā
However, after 2.5 less-than-stellar seasons in Boston, the Celtics traded him and Josh Richardson to the San Antonio Spurs for Derrick White (which has proven to be a beneficial transaction thus far).Ā
By the end of the 2022-23 season, Langford found himself out of the league in a shocking turn of events.Ā
The 25-year-old has participated in the G-League since the conclusion of his fourth NBA season, but is still waiting on his next opportunity with the big dogs.
Lanford, like Diallo, should be prepared to join the Westchester Knicks this season.
