Paris FC vs Nantes
Sports Mole previews Friday’s Ligue 1 clash between Paris FC and Nantes, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
The first fixture on matchday nine of the Ligue 1 campaign will see Nantes pay a visit to Stade Jean-Bouin in the French capital for a date with Paris FC.
At the moment, Paris sit 11th, losing their previous match 2-1 at Lens, while Nantes are four places below them, suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to Lille.
Match previewGiven that it is their first top-flight season in over 40 years, Paris FC cannot have too many complaints about how the new campaign has begun for them.
The newly promoted club have points in two of their previous three league fixtures, with only four points currently separating them from a spot in Europe heading into this weekend.
Stephane Gilli’s men have won two of their last three home encounters in this competition, suffering just two defeats in Paris in either Ligue 1 or 2 since the beginning of 2025.
Paris FC have found the back of the net in every one of their home games this year and have only been shut out in one match all season (1-0 loss at Angers).
While they have plenty of attacking depth, this side are a little suspect at the back, conceding the fourth-most goals in the top-flight this season (15).
Nine of their 10 points domestically have come against sides currently below them in the table, with their opening loss to Angers being their only one versus a team in the bottom half of the table.
Eight games into the campaign, and little has gone right for Luis Castro, with the new Nantes manager struggling to get much out of his players.
Currently, they find themselves only above the relegation line on goal difference, winning just one of their matches played in this competition thus far (1-0 over Auxerre).
With a mere six points, it is their worst start to a Ligue 1 campaign since 2018-19, when they had the same total at this stage but finished the season in a respectable 12th place.
If there is a positive for La Maison Jaune at the moment, it is the fact that they have points in three of their previous four matches played in the top-flight.
They might consider taking a few lessons from their Friday opponents when it comes to scoring goals, as Nantes have netted the joint second-fewest in the competition so far (five).
Les Canaris have won their last five competitive matches versus Paris FC by a combined margin of 20-3, thumping them 8-0 in a third round Coupe de la Ligue affair in 2019.

Team News
Paris are likely to be without Pierre-Yves Hamel on Friday due to a sore hamstring, Lohann Doucet is doubtful because of a knock, Julien Lopez is nursing a calf strain and Mathieu Cafaro is suffering from adductor pain.
Pierre Lees-Melou, who joined them from Brest in late August, scored their only goal in a losing effort, marking the first for his new club.
As for Nantes, Fabien Centonze and Johann Lepenant are dealing with knocks and questionable for Friday, while Francis Coquelin is likely out with a hamstring strain.
There were two changes made to their starting 11 on matchday eight, with Tylel Tati and Baherba Guirassy entering in place of Hong Hyun-seok and Mayckel Lahdo.
Paris FC possible starting lineup:
Nkambadio; Traore, Chergui, Otavio, De Smet; M. Lopez, Lees-Melou, Camara; Kebbal, Geubbels, Simon
Nantes possible starting lineup:
Lopes; Amian, Awaziem, Cozza, Leroux; Mwanga; Hyeok-kyu, Tabibou; Guirassy, Mohamed, Abline
We say: Paris FC 2-1 NantesNantes appear lost and uncertain about how to resolve their current situation, which does not bode well against an exuberant Paris FC side that boast plenty of speed and attacking quality.
