Doja Cat Channels Marilyn Monroe With Her Latest Hair Transformation
Doja Cat has been on a style arc of the ages—with the release of her fifth album Vie in September, the rapper and artist has been luxuriating in ’80s-inflected glamour. Think bombastic blowouts, choppy mullets, flippy bobs, and pin-curled crops, as well as vampy red lips and bold pink blush, two-toned jewel cut-creases, knife-sharp brows, and chiseled contour.
Last night saw Doja Cat step out for the 2025 LACMA Art + Film Gala, held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in California. The annual fundraising event, presented by Gucci, benefits the historic museum, and brought together figures from across the fashion, art, film, and music worlds. Naturally, then, A-listers leaned into old Hollywood glamour. And Doja went all-in, channeling the golden age of Marilyn Monroe with a perfectly coiffed, blonde curly crop. The hair matched her shimmering, orange-gold Gucci gown and dramatic makeup beat.

Her thicket of bleach blonde curls were styled by her go-to hair guru JStayReady, while Ivan Núñez was on-hand for her high-octane ’80s makeup: eyelids were sculpted with a strong feline flick of liquid eyeliner and crystalline silver and blue eyeshadow that brought out her aqua eye contacts. Brows were dark, thin, and slightly feathered a la Marilyn, and lips were lined with a sepia brown and finished with a slick of rose-toned lipstick.

At her recent appearance on the Vogue World Hollywood runway, Doja chaneled Tina Turner in the 1985 sci-fi film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, with a look brought to life by costume designer Michael Schmidt. Glam gloriously matched up, with sky high silvery blonde hair and metallic lips in true Tina style.
Doja Cat is a performer who has always known how important beauty and glam is to a star’s storytelling. Case in point, her campy ’80s look at the 2025 MTV VMAs; she stepped out on the carpet with voluminously-coiffed hair, sensually applying a bright red lipstick—which the just-announced MAC ambassador then began to eat. Performance art! For her turn on Saturday Night Live, she delighted in ’80s power-elegance and more punky aesthetics, with an acid-yellow curly crop.
It might be a crime to be this gorgeous, but Doja Cat and her glam team are ready to face the charges.
