Random: Turns Out the PS5 Can Be a Lot Smaller, and You Can Build One Yourself
In theory

The PS5 is a chunky bit of kit, even if you own one of the later, more slender models.
If you’ve ever looked at your console under your TV and thought, “I wish this thing could be much smaller, and would ditch that weird-looking design,” you’re in luck.
YouTube channel Not From Concentrate has proven the PS5 can be squeezed into a considerably smaller package, with little difference to how it performs.
This one gets very technical, but in broad terms, NFC has been able to take the PS5’s internals and consolidate it all into a box that’s about 60 per cent smaller than the launch PS5 model.
The modded console this video focuses on is a slightly larger model, but it’s still a good deal smaller than stock PS5s, and interestingly, you can build one for yourself â if you have the knowhow.
NFC has made its blueprints and guides on how to build this custom PS5 available for purchase, but stresses that you’ll need to buy or 3D print certain parts, as well as soldering skills and patience, to make it happen.
Whether you’re able to do it yourself or not, squashing the PS5 down to a much smaller box (that’s also a lot more discreet) is an impressive feat.
At this point we don’t imagine there will be any other big revisions of the PS5, but it seems like some clever engineering can reduce it right down.
Anyway, what do you think of this tiny PS5? Is it something you’d like to own, or even make, yourself? Tell us in the comments section below.
