Live updates; Orange Lutheran at No. 3/SN No. 3 St. John Bosco is under way
BELLFLOWER, California, Nov. 14 â St. John Bosco finally breaks the ice with 51 seconds left in the first quarter. It’s 7-0, Braves.
PREVIEW
St. John Bosco enters California’s postseason in the thick of the national title race, but this time, the Braves aren’t in the driver’s seat.
Either Mater Dei or St. John Bosco has won at least a share of every high school national championship over the past eight years, and the top-ranked team heading into California’s postseason usually just needs to win out to claim both a state title and a national title. Heck, even the runner-up heading into the postseason has been known to go on a run to the national championship, and the Braves won both of their titles in that fashion after losing to Mater Dei in the regular season.
This time, St. John Bosco needs help. They have to take care of their business, of course, but even if they win out, they likely need the frontrunners in Georgia to lose, including No. 2/SN No. 25 Grayson and No. 5/SN No. 6 Buford.
They shouldn’t have any problems with Orange Lutheran in the opening round after throttling the Lancers, 48-0 in the regular season.
